As Meath residents digest the news that they are to lose their garda divisional headquarters to Westmeath we had reaction from Junior Minister Damien English and also separately from local councillors. A four day working week - would you approve, we spoke with one business owner operating this initiative on a trial basis. We looked at the need for more investment in home care to reduce so called ‘ bed blockers’ and as a new survey from SIPTU revealed that childcare workers are leaving the sector due to bad pay and working conditions the union spoke to us about the challenges facing their members.

Garda Liam Hennessy, the Meath representative on the Garda Representative Association tells Orlaith that force members are hugely disappointed at the decision to move divisional headquarters to Mullingar. Local TDs Shane Cassells (FF) and Peadar Toibin (Aontu) react angrily to the news and tell Orlaith it will have a massive impact on the county.
