  • What Sacred Means

Sacredness is something that has been lost in our modern society. Like so many spiritual things, we use this word without understanding its meaning. It's time to bring sacredness back.

  • Mormon Apostates are Silenced

Studies show that survivors of trauma benefit greatly from discussing their pain. Yet survivors of religious trauma are labeled apostates and shamed into silence. The #lds church paints such a toxic picture of apostates that when members find themselves on their way out, they're afraid to speak. Their family, friends, and community silence them. This shaming practice isolates "apostates" and keeps them from processing their religious trauma.

Jayenna left the Mormon church 15 years ago. Cat left 25 years ago. It has taken them both decades to break this conditioning and speak against these abusive practices.

  • Is God Abusive

Cat and Jayenna have both experienced abuse cycles and as they've worked to heal their relationship patterns, a startling correlation revealed itself. The way they were taught to think about God within their Mormon upbringings laid a perfect foundation for abuse patterns.

  • Honor Thy Father & Thy Mother

In Exodus, the fifth commandment tells us to "Honor thy father and thy Mother." If you were raised #christian then you were taught this as God's word. But what if you're also part of the disporportionately high group of Christians that grew up in an abusive home? Should you 'honor' abusive caregivers or defy God's commandment?

Jayenna and Cat discuss this issue as it pertains to their personal lives and experiences in the hope it will help others.
