BROADCAST 019 OF THE MIDNIGHT HOLLER
In 1878, Nathaniel Clark was injured and stranded alone on the North Texas range. Then a stranger found him.
Harlan Reddick pulled Nathaniel out of the mud, brought him home, and gave him a place to recover. Harlan’s wife tended his wounds. They fed him. Gave him medicine. Treated him like family.
Nathaniel thought they had saved his life.
Then he noticed his missing knife in their son’s hand.
His saddle was behind their barn.
And when Nathaniel finally decided he was well enough to leave…
they wouldn’t let him.
What followed became a story the Clark family claims to have passed down for nearly 150 years, along with one strange piece of evidence that supposedly survived with it.
Tonight on The Midnight Holler, Jonah Crowe brings you a listener-submitted tale of survival from the North Texas frontier, where the most frightening thing waiting in the wilderness wasn’t supernatural at all.
And back at WHAINT Radio, Jonah has a problem of his own.
Something with red eyes is standing at the edge of the woods.
And every time Jonah looks away…
it gets a little closer.

Stories sound better after midnight.
Ian Mercer spent five years working overnight security in the same thirteen-story office building.
Nothing ever happened.
Then, at 2:14 one morning, he looked up at the elevator display and saw a number that shouldn’t have been there.
14.
The elevator began coming down.
At first, Ian assumed it was a malfunction. Bad wiring. A glitch in an aging building. But when the doors opened, what was standing inside made him question everything he thought he knew about the place.
Soon the flies started appearing.
A security camera began showing a hallway that didn’t exist.
And something on the other side of that hallway started making its way down through the building.
Ian thought quitting the job would end it.
Three weeks later, the flies appeared in his kitchen.

Broadcast 017: I Fell In Love With An Immortal Funeral Director / The Dead Kept Her Young
In 1962, Emmett Guidry takes a job at a small funeral home in Bellweather, Louisiana.
The work is steady, the dead don’t bother him much, and his employer, Evangeline Marchand, is unlike any woman he has ever met.
Elegant. Distant. Beautiful.
Emmett is completely taken with her.
Then one night, after returning to the funeral home after closing, he sees Evangeline doing something to one of the bodies that he cannot explain away.
What he discovers beneath Marchand Funeral Home has been hidden in Bellweather for more than sixty years.
A secret society.
A set of rules.
And a belief that something remains inside the body after death.
Something that can be taken.
Something that can keep a person young.
But the Mercy Table has survived as long as it has for one reason.
They never take a life themselves.
And someone is about to break the oldest rule.

Three hikers. Three stories. One trail you might not want to walk alone.
Tonight on The Midnight Holler, Jonah opens the mailbag for three unsettling stories from the Appalachian Trail.
A solo backpacker in the Smokies notices a man following him from a distance. Every time he stops, the man stops. Every time he speeds up, the man eventually reappears behind him. Until somehow… he’s ahead.
A couple takes shelter from heavy rain during a section hike in Virginia, only to wake after midnight to someone slowly walking circles around the shelter. Whoever is outside won’t answer them. And by morning, they discover he wasn’t wearing shoes.
And in Pennsylvania, an experienced land surveyor encounters a fork in the Appalachian Trail that doesn’t appear on his map. He follows it to an old shelter where three hikers offer him coffee and tell him there’s been some kind of mistake.
Because according to them, the year is 1972.
Three stories about what can happen when the sun goes down, the trail gets quiet, and the nearest road is miles away.
This is Broadcast 016 of The Midnight Holler.

True Stories. Real Fear.
Broadcast 015: Every Time I Blink, They Move Closer
He started seeing them when he was a kid.
Tall, black figures standing where people weren’t supposed to be. Behind walls. At the end of hallways. Across the street.
Always watching.
At first, he thought blinking made them disappear.
Then he realized every time he closed his eyes…
they got closer.
By thirteen, his birthdays had become something to survive. Every year, the figures returned. Every year, there were more of them. And every year, he became better at staying awake.
Coffee. Cold water. Alarms. Mirrors. Anything to keep his eyes open until sunrise.
But the older he gets, the more the rules begin to change.
And as his eighteenth birthday approaches, he discovers something even more frightening:
His mother knows exactly what he’s been seeing.
She always has.
Broadcast 015 of The Midnight Holler is a long-form supernatural horror story about shadow people, sleepless nights, a mother’s impossible choice, and the terrible cost of living on borrowed time.
And when the story ends, stay tuned for “Don’t Let The Dead Air In” by Carl Lee Hesh and The Backwoods Boys, closing out tonight’s broadcast from WHAINT Radio.
Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and settle in.
Just remember…
don’t blink.

Sid and Pat were supposed to be making a routine service call.
Then the storm came.
Stranded on the backroads of Mississippi with rising water, no cell service, and nowhere to spend the night, the two friends see something through the rain that shouldn’t be there.
THE MAGNOLIA MOTOR HOTELVACANCY
It looks like a place forgotten by time.
No WiFi. No computers. No online reviews. A working payphone hangs in the lobby. Brass room keys wait behind the front desk. Everything looks like it hasn’t changed since the 1960s.
And somehow, they have a room available.
Room 317.
But when Sid and Pat reach the third floor, they discover two hallways with no room numbers and no apparent end.
Then Sid hears Pat calling his name.
There’s only one problem.
Pat’s voice is coming from the wrong direction.
What follows is an account of impossible hallways, familiar voices, things wearing familiar faces, and a roadside hotel that Sid has never been able to find again.
But the Magnolia isn’t the only thing waiting in Broadcast 014.
Something has happened at WHAINT Radio.
Jonah Crowe is missing.
And for the first time, someone else is sitting behind his microphone.
His name is Jackson Crowe.
And he’s looking for his father.

Tyler’s story begins with memories.

There’s only one problem.
The man was Tyler’s great-grandfather.
And he died before Tyler was born.

MISSING TAPE 004 - Intro & Outro from Broadcast 012
This is not a broadcast.
For full episode, see Broadcast 012 in it's entirety.
This is only a piece of it.
What follows here a recovered piece of audio from WHAINT Radio—recorded sometime during the events surrounding Broadcast 012.
The tape contains only three things:
A message from Jonah Crowe.
What happened after the station went quiet.
And a song.
There are gaps in the recording that cannot be accounted for.
No corresponding broadcast log has been found, and according to Jonah’s own notes, parts of this tape should not exist at all.
Listen closely to the voices.
Listen closer to what happens between them.
Because something changed inside WHAINT that night.
And for the first time in a very long while…Jonah may not be alone.

BROADCAST 012 — THE SHAPE UNDER THE HIDE
The generators are dead.
The backups are gone.
And somewhere beyond the walls of WHAINT, something has finally started coming inside.
Broadcast 012 begins with a prerecorded emergency message from Jonah Crowe... one he hoped the station would never have to play. With the transmitter dying, the lights fading, and the sounds outside getting closer, Jonah has enough power left for only one thing:
One last story.
Tonight’s tale comes from an old Appalachian taxidermist who spent more than fifty years learning that every animal has a shape all its own.
Then one summer, a stranger brought him a buck that didn’t seem to have one.
The deer was too heavy.
Its eyes were still clear.
Its body was put together wrong.
And beneath the hide was something that had been using the animal like a man uses a coat.
Something that listened.
Something that learned.
And when the taxidermist began building a new form for the mount…
…it began learning how to fit.
THE SHAPE UNDER THE HIDE is a slow-burning tale of taxidermy, imitation, family, and the terrible danger of giving the wrong thing a place to live.
But the story may not be the worst thing waiting inside WHAINT tonight.
Because after the final words fade, something moves below the station.
Footsteps climb the stairs from Studio B.
And a voice Jonah has not heard in a very long time calls into the darkness.
Stay through the end.
Whatever happens to WHAINT tonight…
Every Story Leaves Something Behind.
Keep listening.
Don’t change the dial.
And if somebody calls your name from the dark…
make sure you know who’s speaking.
