The pressure's set to rise on the New Zealand stock exchange to deliver a vibrant market, following Xero's exit.

The cloud accounting firm has decided to exit the NZX, in favour of consolidating its dual listing solely onto the ASX.

JMIS Director, Andrew Kelleher told Mike Hosking the NZX will need to deliver a growth strategy.

"We may not like seeing Xero leave the NZX but we do know why and I think Xero have been transparent.'

Labour's ready for criticism over the latest iteration of the TPP.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says we're ready to sign the 11-country free trade agreement.

She says they've made progress on narrowing the investor state dispute clause, which gives rights to foreign companies to sue the Crown.

But to Newstalk ZB political editor, Barry Soper that clause is still on the table.

"You'll remember that Andrew Little, when he was the leader of the Labour Party, said it was a sovereignty issue and they will certainly pay the consequences in terms of criticism back home, and that's already started."

It is part of a busy few days for Ardern, where her diplomacy skills are about to be put to the test.

Ardern's in the Philippine capital of Manila for the East Asia Summit, where she'll meet a number of world leaders for the first time.

Soper said the Prime Minister has a number of bilateral meetings lined up.

"One is with [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau and it's a 'getting to know you' exercise with Ardern."

There's strong opposition to a proposal to extend Auckland's Halsey Wharf for the America's Cup.

Team New Zealand wants to extend the wharf by three-hectares for all the syndicate bases.

Councillors are set to hear six different options for the syndicate bases today, including the Halsey Wharf option.

But architect Barry Copeland told Mike Hosking this choice would eventually turn into an empty wharf, that no one visits.

"It's a kind of like three-hectare industrial park sitting right there out on the harbour, blocking access and views."

Sheep are much better at recognising human faces than previously thought.

New research by Cambridge University shows they recognise celebrities' faces 80 percent of the time when looking straight on.

Lead researcher, Jenny Morton said she was surprised sheep could recognise people.

She told Mike Hosking she was astounded they could make sense of photographs, given many animals can't.

"I was surprised at the fact that they could recognise a face from a photograph, that was a bit a surprising.'

Morton said it's a breakthrough for researchers trying to find treatments for Huntington's.

"Once we can measure difference between a normal sheep and a transgenic sheep then we can actually start testing therapies as well."

There's more than just glory at stake as the All Whites battle for a spot in next year's FIFA World Cup.

The team will take on Peru at Westpac Stadium tomorrow night.

The buzz is building in the capital after 20,000 tickets to the match were sold in the first hour of pre-sales.

New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin said getting a place in the World Cup does a lot for the sport at the grassroots level.

Football's grown considerably here since the All Whites last secured a spot in the 2010 World Cup.

"The participation numbers are huge, foot sales are going gangbusters all down to that sort of contribution we can get from winning this game."

Meanwhile, fans might want to pack a jumper for New Zealand's big showdown against Peru.

MetService meterologist Gerard Barrouu says the weather's not looking too bad, but it could pay to dress up warm.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership is being seen as significant for New Zealand exporters.

It appears negotiators are still tussling over it in Vietnam.

Special agricultural trade envoy Mike Petersen said the deal will cover nearly 20 percent of the world's GDP in the world's fastest growing region.

He said the cost of being out of trade agreements can be far greater than the benefits of being in them.

"If we were excluded from this, frankly, we'd be really rendered uncompetitive in Asia-Pacific for quite some time."

Trans-Pacific Partnership talks are going into the early hours of the morning in Vietnam.

Japan's minister for the economy has told reporters a deal's been struck but Canada's Trade Minister said an agreement among TPP countries on a trade deal is 'absolutely not true'.

Financial Times world trade editor, Shawn Donnan told Mike Hosking people in Da Nang have told him the chief negotiators are still talking and working towards a deal.

He said TPP leaders are keen to announce something tomorrow.

"There's still some ...details that are popping up at the end. Including possibly something on Labour's standards.'

Donnan said the Vietnamese were pushed by the US during the original negotiations to create unions that aren't run by the Government.

There's shock and surprise at one of New Zealand's most successful tech companies announcing it will de-list from the New Zealand stock exchange.

Accounting software firm Xero is moving to the Australian stock exchange, the ASX, from the NZX.

Financial commentator Andrew Kelleher, from JMIS, thinks there's more to the story we don't know yet.

"Ditching the listing on NZX completely seems, I think dramatic would be euphemism, for some of the words I heard. There must be some very disappointed people."

Xero chief executive Rod Drury says it's about driving further growth, and accessing bigger markets and potential investors.

But Kelleher believes these are all fine reasons, "But I think there's stuff not being said here and I think there's still a story to come out. I'ts unusual and I think there's a story behind this."
