After taking a week off from my podcast to celebrate my 25th bday, and for celebrating almost 120 of this podcast (even though this isn't exactly Episode 120, it's technically episode 118. but regardless of the number of episodes i have put out so far, I decided to do another interview episode since we are close to 120 episodes of this podcast I put out. but this interview episode is ABSOLUTELY LIKE NO OTHER interview episode I have done in the past. Instead of me interviewing a 60's music industry veteran, I"m actually being the one interviewed! Yes! I decided that it was time I have someone on my podcast who was around my age and have them pick my brain about general 60's music history and have me talk about what the music business was like back then and how different recording technology was like back then vs today. so with this podcast episode, I'm accomplishing what I set out to do since day one of my podcast which is educate a younger generation about 60's music history since she is a millennial, but she's also a musician so she already brings another layer of intellectualism on to my podcast. So in this podcast you'll witness her learn a lot about this INCREDIBLE decade of music from me. and she also is very passionate about this music and does a lot to bring a sense of modern perspective on this music as well. which is REALLY important because I myself tend to get stuck inside of trivial information about 60's music and I sometimes loose an awareness of the music that's going on now. This week I'll be tackling my first ever male female duet of the 60's (one that you probably won't be familiar with ESPECIALLY if your a Millennial) but one can argue that even if your a baby boomer and you grew up with this kind of music, this one might have slipped through the cracks for you because this particular duo is relatively obscure because they only had 3 charting singles and none of them made the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 (they were essentially lower charting singles, but still very popular at the time of their initial releases). but the group's initial chart positions for their only three charting singles doesn't undermine how good they were and today, I'm going to talk about exactly how awesome this song is and what makes it so good musically and lyrically, and why this is a song you'll definitely be able to relate to even if your a Millennial and you've never heard this song before. here's the link to this week's song just in case you've never heard it before:
