Marlon migrated to the United States from Jamaica at the age of 14 and was raised in South Miami Heights. As a first generation American lawyer, he is a business and government law partner with the law firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L. For the last 25 years, Marlon has been passionate about serving as an outside general counsel to a number of artists, entrepreneurs, corporations, sovereign governments, related agencies, and not-for-profit organizations, especially in the tourism, hospitality, and media/entertainment industries, from brand creation to generational transfer. In 2019, Marlon filed and campaigned as a recent candidate for the Miami-Dade County Commission, District 9. As a lawyer and advocate, Marlon has served as lead counsel or advisor to a number of client transactions or community initiatives. In recent years, I have represented a Caribbean multinational food manufacturing company, a regional tourism advocacy organization, a number of artist entrepreneurs and family-owned companies in the drafting of corporate governance and financing transaction documents, prosecution of intellectual property rights, and other business strategy transactions.
