Unhealthy mental health habits are behaviours that have a negative effect on the way we think and the way we feel about ourselves.
We often believe our mood and our mental health are solely dependent on external factors and that we have little ability to control them. We often wonder why we get so easily irritated, upset, sad, lethargic, and bored in life.
Then, as a solution, we try to improve our mood and cope with stress by engaging in unhealthy behaviours. And this, unfortunately, makes our mood even worse.
Yes, it’s true that our mood is affected by our brain chemistry.
But, remember one thing...
Our brain chemistry is largely affected by our behaviours and habits in life. If we treat ourselves with care and know what makes us happy, we are going to have a more balanced brain chemistry.
Here are a few common bad mental health habits that might be making you unhappy and unsatisfied with your life.

What are false beliefs?
They are beliefs we have about ourselves or our experience (internal as well as external) that are untrue and limiting. They live in our unconscious and since 90 percent of our actions stem from our unconscious, our false beliefs play a huge role in nearly everything we do.
Also, since they live in our unconscious, we may not be aware of them and how they affect our daily lives.
For example, if you believe you are unlovable, you may sabotage relationships, hold on when you shouldn’t, or avoid getting into relationships altogether.
And then “logic” may provide you with explanations on why you are doing this when, at the core, it’s fuelled by your false belief that you are unlovable.
Our behaviour stems from our beliefs. And what our life looks like is a result of our collective behaviour.
So, if we change or dissolve our beliefs, especially our false beliefs, we can change our behaviour and ultimately change our life.
A belief is based on a perception, or one’s interpretation of the acquired knowledge.
Sometimes in life, we find ourselves at a dead end, a crossroads, a path that seems to go nowhere and often we find ourselves uttering these 9 oh-so-familiar words: “I don’t know what to do with my life…”
No matter what stage you are at in your life, if you are unhappy or unsure as to how to proceed, then there’s one major thing you need to do right now… And that is re-evaluate.
When I was in high school, I remember thinking that I had to pick a career at which I would be “happy and successful at” for the next 50 or so years of my life. I mean, come on! A 16-year-old needing to face such a daunting task. How are you supposed to know what’s going to make you happy for the rest of your life, when you’re only 16 and you’re still getting a thrill out of watching “The Matrix”?
You can’t know!
You can’t even know what’s going to make you happy five years from now. But you can know what makes you happy RIGHT now. And if you’re in a situation where your current position — or choice of educational path — isn’t it, then you need to move on.
If what you’re doing is not working for you, then do something else. And if you’re uncertain about WHAT exactly to do, then just go and DO RANDOM stuff that you think might be interesting and if you didn’t like the class or workshop or course or whatever, then cross that off your list. See, life is often about experiencing things and realizing what you don’twant.
So, what to do when you don’t know what to do with your life…?
I want to share 8 Things to Remember When You Don’t Know What to Do with Your Life…
So you've hit "Rock Bottom"...?
You've reached a point where you feel that nothing and no-one can dig you out of the perceived hell you find yourself in and you are imagining, or even worse, planning an exit strategy?
I get you! I was there as well a few years back. If there's one person who understands, it's me.
The thing is, nobody ever tells you how to deal with extreme failure in life.
I had no idea what to do, where to go, or who to talk to.
My family didn’t even know that I needed help.
All I knew was that nobody was coming to my rescue. Nobody could pull me out of this predicament.
I had to do it myself.
It wasn’t until I narrowly escaped death that I started to wake up from the fog and realized that I had to take back my life.
How did I do it?
By going through the following five steps...
The official definition of FOMO is:
“a feeling of anxiety or insecurity over the possibility of missing out on something, such as an event or an opportunity”
But I don’t need to tell you what the definition is, you have all experienced how it feels when your friends are on social media doing something and you aren’t. Missing out on all those jokes, adventures, parties, life events and plans.
Basically, the feeling of exclusion.
I’m sure we have all experienced the gnawing anxiety of FOMO as it ruins our once happy mood with envy, sadness and a sense of lack, right?
Comparison is the thief of joy and as we compare our lives to those on social media - even though we cannot be compared because our lives are so beautifully different - FOMO kills happiness.
So what can we do to overcome it?
Here are a few tips and techniques to get you started...
Lot of fear going around, uncertainty about what is to come, what actions to take, what NOT to do and where we will all ultimately move towards as a species.
Through all of these jumbled emotions, it’s helpful to keep in mind that at its base, only two emotions exist: Love and Fear…
ALL other emotions stem from these two core emotions.
Now normally I would focus on the love and go more in depth about how to increase and improve in that direction of thought…
So here are a few tips, tools and techniques you can use to overcome the fear you might be experiencing.
So apart from wearing a mask, limiting social contact, isolation, washing and sanitizing our hands… all of which are external methods of protection, have you stopped and thought about what OTHER methods are there that can fortify you against an onslaught to your health and wellbeing…?
Here are 9 things that you can STOP doing, that’s right, things you need to QUIT RIGHT NOW in order to be better protected against our common enemy – COVID-19.
Our modern culture seems to be obsessed with speed rather than direction, with efficiency rather than destiny, most people are often so busy following the crowd that they forget to check their direction. And yet, something is missing... Our lives may have efficiency but no direction.
Like any long journey, it is necessary to stop every once in a while, take note of where you are and where you are heading and calibrate your compass and plan your journey.
THIS is your roadblock… THIS is your wake-up call.
It’s time for some soul calibration…
