  • 43: MiningMaven Podcast No 42 with Ortac Resources (LON:OTC) Chairman Anthony Balme and CEO Vassilios Carellas
The Management Team of Ortac Resources (LON:OTC) , Executive Chairman Anthony Balme and CEO Vassillios Carellas make their debut in this episode of The MiningMaven Podcast.
Ortac's flagship project is their Sturec Gold project in Slovakia with a JORC compliant Au equivalent resource of 1.32 Moz, with 1,1Moz in the Measured & Indicated category. The project has had a positive Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) carried out by SRK, so altogether its quite advanced. The company also has investments in Eritrea, Zambia and DRC.
In the Podcast we take an in depth look at the Company's investment proposition with Anthony and Vassilios. We hope you enjoy listening.
MiningMaven View: Although Ortac has been known to MiningMaven for quite some time, we have not looked closely at the Company or its investment proposition until now.
In recent times, the Company had been known to be struggling in Slovakia with local opposition to the development of Sturec. However it now seems that sentiment on the ground may have started to turn; mainly due to an improving gold price swaying the argument in favour of the hope of local jobs and an economic revival for this historic mining region. Should this be the case then Sturec should be able to see its way through to the next stage of mine development, being the environmental permitting phase.
Ortac's current market cap is around £1.7m and for that you get the Strurec gold mine project with its 1.32Moz Jorc resource (1.1Moz Measured & Indicated) and a completed positive PFS. Plus some other interesting investment stakes in projects in DRC, Eritrea, Zambia as a bonus.
We think it looks cheap and a good example of the kind of opportunities out there at this stage in the cycle. It will be interesting to look back at Ortac in December to see how right we were!

  • 42: MiningMaven Podcast No 41 with Red Rock Resources (LON:RRR) Chairman and CEO Andrew Bell
Andrew Bell, Chairman and CEO of Red Rock Resources (LON:RRR) is our guest on this episode of the MiningMaven Podcast.
Yesterday Red Rock released an update to the market in relation to payments from the Company's Shoats Creek Field in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana and the sale of the Company's interest in the El Limon gold mine, Colombia. The full announcement can be seen here:
    http://www.rrrplc.com/themes/rrrplc_theme/scripts/php/rns_viewer.php?id=24827291
In the Podcast Andrew discusses the significance of this latest update with particular emphasis on the Promissory Note for US$1m owed to the company by Para Resources (TSX:PBR). As Andrew explains, the process for obtaining that payment has moved on and the company will be having discussions with Para later this month. Andrew also explains that as the company has elected for settlement to be by way of shares, the value of the Note to Red Rock could be more than three times that originally anticipated. Essential listening for all investors.
MiningMaven view: We last spoke to Andrew at the end of July (Podcast No 35) and to be honest not much has changed since then and we remain of the view that there are several probable catalysts which could drive the share price significantly higher in the near term; the most apparent of which is the Promissory Note for US$1m due to the company from Para Resources.
Should the company be successful in obtaining settlement by way of shares and warrants, on the terms we understand to have been agreed, then the settlement value could rise to US$3.76m or £2.9m at current Para share prices.
Nothing moves in a straight line however, but we believe there is a reasonable likelihood that Red Rock will achieve a satisfactory settlement here in the near term. If they do, then this payment would be in excess of the company's current market cap of around £1.7m. In which case, it will be interesting to see how the market reacts.

  • 41: MiningMaven Podcast No 40 with Goldstone Resources (LON:GRL) CEO Emma Priestley
Emma Priestley, the newly installed CEO of Goldstone Resources (LON:GRL) is our guest on the Podcast today.
Goldstone recently closed a £1m placing, the funds for which will be used to advance the Company's principal project in Ghana, Homase-Akrokerri, through the completion of up to 2,000 metres of RC drilling to test the extension of the known mineralisation.
In addition, the net proceeds of the fundraise will also provide the Company with general working capital and an opportunity to assess other strategic opportunities.
This is the first step for the Company as it seeks to advance its assets after a period of minimal activity.
The full announcement can be found here:
    http://hsprod.investis.com/ir/grl/ir_new.jsp?page=news-item&item=2547340808290304
MiningMaven view: We have been following and invested in Goldstone Resources for some time and for various reasons the company has not in the past been able to live up to the promise of its potential.
We are now pleased to see that the company will be focussing on developing its Homase Akrokerri asset, and build up its current 600k Au resource.
Its notable Ashanti Gold Belt address and its proximity to Anglo Gold Ashanti's 42m oz Obuasi Mine are what originally drew us to Goldstone, and that has not changed.
Along with new management changes and improving investor sentiment in the sector, we also hope to see a fresh reinvigorated approach from the company and look forward to the commencement of the forthcoming drilling campaign.
As the gold price continues to improve , we expect a successful campaign at Homase will see further investor attention drawn to Goldstone, particularly in view of its notable Gold address in Ghana.
