The MMA Report

Bubba Jenkins is now a free agent as he was released from his contract with Bellator and while a majority of people in the mixed martial arts community is questioning this move by Bellator, Jason Floyd tells you why he understands why Bellator decided to part ways with the featherweight fighter.

After giving his thoughts on the Jenkins situation with Bellator, Jason touches on the 3-man broadcasting booth used this past weekend at UFC 208 and explains why he thought it was a good broadcast. Also, Jason talks about some of the latest fight bookings in MMA including the odd matchup between Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov.

Along with discussing those subjects, Jason has five fighter interviews this week on the podcast as he is joined by Liam McGeary, Oli Thompson, Josh Appelt, Leon Davis and Czar Sklavos. McGeary previews his fight next week at Bellator 173 in Ireland against Chris Fields and he talks about losing the Bellator light heavyweight title against Phil Davis.

Then you hear from Thompson, who will be facing Cheick Kongo on Saturday at Bellator 172 in a heavyweight bout. Thompson recalls his Bellator debut against Matt Mitrione and explains what he needs to do on Saturday to defeat Kongo. Speaking of heavyweights, Appelt joins the podcast to discuss his heavyweight bout next Saturday at Gladiator Challenge against Ben Beebe.

The final two interviews on this week’s podcast are with Davis and Sklavos. Davis talks about his fight next week at AMMO Fight League against Ralph Johnson in a welterweight bout and Sklavos previews his flyweight bout against Casey Johnson at Front Street Fights 11.

Finally, Jason gives a mini preview of this weekend’s MMA and tells you about a middleweight bout that is now official for next month’s UFC 209 as a fighter has received a license from the Nevada Athletic Commission after being unable to get a license through the New York State Athletic Commission.

David Branch and the World Series of Fighting have parted ways and Jason Floyd gives his take on what this means for the future of the World Series of Fighting on this week’s episode of The MMA Report Podcast.

Speaking of free agency, what’s the latest with Ryan Bader? Has Bader officially signed with Bellator MMA? While UFC President Dana White says Bader is gone, the Ultimate Fighter 8 winner stated on Tuesday that it’s not official and Jason tells you why you should not be surprised that Bader is heading to Bellator.

Also on this episode of the podcast, Jason talks about some of the latest fight bookings in mixed martial arts and has seven fighter interviews. First, Jason speaks with UFC heavyweight Curtis Blaydes about his victory this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 104 against Adam Milstead. Curtis talks about his dominating victory, should a corner stop the fight, changes in his training and what he has planned for his upcoming birthday.

Following the interview with Blaydes, Jason is joined by Bellator lightweight Patricky “Pitbull” Freire to preview his fight next week in the co-main event of Bellator 172 against Josh Thomson. Pitbull talks about his training partners for this fight and what he needs to do to walk away with a victory next week in San Jose.

Then Jason turns his attention to next week’s CFFC 63 as he is joined by Bill Algeo and Tanner Saraceno. Algeo previews his featherweight title fight against champion Jared Gordon and Saraceno talks about his fight against Matt Socholotiuk.

The final three interviews on this episode of the podcast is with fighters who will be part of Saturday’s Valor Fights 40 in Tennessee. Edward Massey and Zac Cooper preview their matchup in the main event of the fight card and Cole Ferrell talks about his matchup against Brandon Grimmett.

The podcast wraps up by Jason giving a quick rundown of Saturday’s UFC 208 and explains why he is interested in seeing the light heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Jared Cannonier.
