Welcome back to Episode 8 of the podcast!
This week, we're joined by Neil, a good friend of Rishi's and a former colleague from their days working together at Capita. But while many people talk about making the leap from corporate life to entrepreneurship, Neil actually did it.
Not long after Rishi left Capita, Neil followed a very different path, teaming up with his brother and two of his brother's colleagues to launch a wealth management business. The challenge? Neil came from an accounting background and had virtually no experience in wealth management. For the first 6 to 12 months, his full-time job was essentially studying, taking exams, and learning everything he needed to succeed in a completely new industry.
Fast forward six years, and what started from scratch has grown into a thriving business managing around £250 million in assets, with no signs of slowing down.
In this episode, we talk about the realities of building a business from the ground up, the steep learning curve of changing careers, and the huge contrast between life inside a corporate giant like Capita and the freedom that comes with creating your own culture, values, and way of working.
It's a fascinating conversation about risk, growth, resilience, and what can happen when you back yourself and take the leap.
