  • Living A Life Of Synergy | Cody Childers Ep. 112

SHOW UP AUTHENTICALLY AND SYNERGY WILL MEET YOU THERE.”

    Sanjo Jendayi

If you’re like most people. Coffee is one of the first things on your mind each morning. The aroma, the taste, and ahh yes, that caffeine fix!

I know a lot of you reading this know the ritual. It’s sacred and special. In fact, a lot of us would say:

“DON’T Y’ALL TO ME UNTIL I’VE HAD MY CUP OF COFFEE!”

What is it about this wonderful drink that brings everything together?

You don’t need to be a coffee lover to understand the impact it has on so many of us on a daily basis. Maybe that because at its core, coffee is here for you, the person that’s drinking it.

Imagine if businesses made us feel like that?

I’d argue that some of the best companies in the world have one thing in common. Their focus on their customers.

My guest today Cody Childers knows where his true focus is. It’s on you, the customer. As the founder of Synergy Coffee, Cody’s mission is to create space for relationships and unity through coffee.

What started out as an idea to fill a void, turned into a full-fledged specialty coffee catering company in Greenville, SC. It’s a journey that’s just getting started but has been born out of awareness, preparation, and a bit of risk.

Hop into the origin story and learn how Cody made the decision to take his down payment for a house and use it to start his own company. We cover the true definition of fear, the focus being on the customer, and building a team of people who love their jobs.

You’ll want to sip on a nice hot cup of joe to this one.

  • Don't Just WANDR Through Life | Jinny Oh Ep. 111

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU ARE… FROM THIS VERY MOMENT ON YOU CHOOSE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LIFE."

    Toni Sorenson

A lot of us know what it feels like to be lost in life. We either try a whole bunch of things that have nothing to do with each other or we get paralyzed by the number of options in front of us.

What's worse is once we find something we think we want to pursue, we land in a community of so many others well down the path that are capable of things we can only dream of doing. The gap seems wider than anything we could ever tackle.

How can we sift through the garbage and find something that we really want to pursue? Additionally, how can we stay confident and persistent once we're well on our way and keep from getting discouraged?

If I'm being honest, I don't know the answers to either of those questions. The best way to find your direction is to just start walking. As for the whole getting discouraging thing? Well, I'm not sure if that goes away easily either.

My guest today is well on her way and is still learning as she goes. Just speaking with her for a few minutes, you can tell she's a life long learner and will always look to improve herself and pour into those around her. Jinny Oh is the founder of WANDR, an award-winning product strategy and UX Design firm that's worked with clients like WWF, Samsung, and The US Air Force.

Jinny will tell you that she has felt her fair share of imposter syndrome, uncertainty, and stress. For some of us, it's just part of the process. As we grow and continue to step foot in those rooms, before you know it, we start to feel like we belong.

Just be glad you were invited into the room in the first place!

Hop into today's episode while Jinny and I discuss starting something that matters, taking care of your team, overcoming imposter syndrome, and leaning on consistency and hard work. I am so thankful Jinny took the time to join us on today's episode. You won't be disappointed!

  • Put In The Work For The Life You Want | Spencer Ramseur Ep. 110

"A DREAM DOES NOT BECOME REALITY THROUGH MAGIC; IT TAKES SWEAT, DETERMINATION, AND HARD WORK."

    Colin Powell

I know you've heard it before. The life you want to live will take more work than you think. But it'll be worth it. Unfortunately, most people don't take this advice seriously and get discouraged when reality sets in.

What was the last thing you tried that turned out to be a lot harder than you thought? Did you stick with it?

If your answer is yes, I hope the results were everything you've ever wanted. However, if the answer was no, I think we need to explore where things went wrong.

Don't get me wrong. It's okay to change your mind and decide to spend your time on something more fulfilling or more aligned with your long term goals. Take caution though as you don't want to spend your days dabbling and never actually developing a skill or expertise in one direct niche.

The juiciest fruits are typically out of reach from the masses. If you're wanting to really enjoy the finer things in life, financial freedom, time flexibility, and a life by design, you're going to have to do what most people aren't willing to do. You're going to have to work for it.

My guest today, Spencer Ramseur is the youngest guest we've had to date on the podcast and he has already put in the work. Starting in the insurance industry at the age of 19, Spencer would face rejection, stress, family struggles, and more on his road to growth.

Let me be clear here. Spencer is just getting started! However, after years of knocking on doors, cold calling, and setbacks, he's just reaching his stride.

Hop into today's episode as Spencer and I discuss working two jobs while training in his craft, learning not to judge, putting in the hours, and seeking proper guidance. You'll be inspired to lean in just a little bit more into your practice after listening to this one.

  • You Are The Poet Of Your Life | Moody Black Ep. 109

"POETRY … IS THE REVELATION OF A FEELING THAT THE POET BELIEVES TO BE INTERIOR AND PERSONAL WHICH THE READER RECOGNIZES AS HIS OWN."

    Salvatore Quasimodo

Many of us have experienced the beauty of art.

It could be a book, song, poem, or even a painting. For some reason we can't explain, it just speaks to us. That's what happens when the emotion within us is articulated through art.

We get an instant connection to it. It becomes a part of us and we wonder how the artist was able to capture what we were feeling so well.

Often times, it's because that artist experienced the same emotion and spent the time to reflect, meditate, and unpack it into physical form.

That's what happened to my guest today, Moody Black. In his words, he was a young adolescent when he realized:

    "POETRY CAN SPEAK TO ME"

    Moody Black

When was the last time a craft, grabbed your heart?

I'm a firm believer that we all need an outlet for our emotions. Whether it be singing, an instrument, poetry, journaling, or simply meditating. If we never slow down and analyze the things that impact us each and every day, we're bound to crash into a wall of emotion we didn't see coming and can't understand.

Some would call this "A Meltdown."

Don't let that happen to you. If art can tell us anything it's that you are not the only one going through what you're going through. That might not solve the issue, but there's something powerful in us realizing that we're not alone.

Hop into today's episode and listen to Moody and I discuss wearing your passions on your sleeve, applying your unique skills in creative ways, and staying connected and relatable throughout your growth. You'll learn so much more than how to be a poet of your own life in this one.

  • Connecting The Dots Of Your Life | Brionna Morse Ep. 107

"LET YOURSELF BE DRAWN BY THE STRONGER PULL OF THAT WHICH YOU TRULY LOVE."

    Rumi

Have you ever felt like one of those clowns at the circus? You know, the ones juggling a bunch of bowling pins as the crowd eggs on the ringmaster to throw more and more pins at them.

I can see it now. The clown is frantically trying to keep up with the pins being thrown at him while I sit there enjoying the entertainment, instigating the stressful situation further.

As we do our best to juggle the challenges of everyday life, I think we all owe that clown an apology. If only we knew karma would be so cruel!

Nowadays, we find it hard to truly excel in all aspects of our lives. One day we're killing it at work but we come home to a disaster. Or perhaps we're on top of the chores at home but work assignments are piling up and deadlines loom over our heads. No matter how you slice it, we always feel like we're robbing Peter to pay Paul when it comes to balancing the overwhelming demands of life.

My guest today, Brionna Morse, knows exactly how you feel. Being a self-mastery mind coach, Brionna helps us get out of our own way and start connecting the dots of our lives. This helps us better understand the picture we're creating and puts the power in our hands!

Being raised on a 75-acre farm in Idaho allowed Brionna to experience adventure and the great outdoors growing up. Always being active and connecting with others, she knew she wanted to do things a little differently when she completed her studies and obtained her Masters of Arts in Psychology at Phillips Graduate Institute.

Her work has brought her to Greenville South Carolina where Brionna now works with high achievers, helping them ditch self-sabotage and create happiness and freedom in their lives.

Join us today as we discuss overcoming the fear of success or failure, the difference between what we know and what we believe, and finally taking the time to slow down and listen to our hearts.

This episode is sure to leave a positive impact.

  • You Deserve To Find Your Purpose | Daphne DeLoren Ep. 106

"TRUE HAPPINESS… IS NOT ATTAINED THROUGH SELF-GRATIFICATION, BUT THROUGH FIDELITY TO A WORTHY PURPOSE."

    Helen Keller

I had just finished up some new training on a program I never used before. The law firm was making some changes and as the new billing clerk, I had to learn how to input the attorneys billable hours. It was a long tedious and repetitive process that taught me how to type "preparation, dictation, review, and revision" with my eyes closed.

The lady who was training me was a little bit older and making small talk I simply asked; "So have you always wanted to be a paralegal?"

Her answer would end up being the motivating factor that pushed me to never be complacent with where I was. She simply said:

"Oh no, I started working here after I graduated and after getting married and having kids, next thing I knew ten years went by"

At that moment, I realized how quickly we can fall into a rhythm of comfort and never get to the things we truly want to do in life. As life goes on and responsibilities pile on, we forget to make our happiness a priority!

Sometime's we need to just slow down, let the noise settle, and listen to our heart for a change.

My guest today, Daphne DeLoren, is a full-time mother, wife, meteorologist, speaker, podcaster, life coach, and believer. Daphne has a passion for people and a love for the Lord. You can say she's come a long way from those lonely early mornings at 2 AM eating her pancake in the dark.

Like many of us, Daphne knows what it's like to overcome failure and achieve success only to realize the result may not have been what we expected. Falling on faith, love, and purpose, Daphne found a way to pour into others and spread positivity in a world full of negative noise.

In a time where we are surrounded by the cloudiness of 2020, Daphne is the "Drop of Sunshine" we've all been asking for.

Join us as we discuss the importance of learning through failure, paying attention to what we put our validation in, and having nothing to realize God was all you needed. You're not going to want to miss this one!

  • Becoming Your Best Self | Stephen Scrobe Ep. 105

"LIVE AS IF YOU WERE TO DIE TOMORROW. LEARN AS IF YOU WERE TO LIVE FOREVER."

    Mahatma Gandhi

There's something that happens to us after we accept our diploma, certificate of approval, or certification in a specific field. We all get just a little bit taller, that confidence gets a tiny bit bigger, and that ego gets stroked just enough to make us feel fulfilled.

We've made it. We've completed your studies and are now ready to apply what we have learned.

Unfortunately, what so few of us realize at that moment is that the lessons are just beginning. School might be out but class is in session. Life has a whole curriculum of lessons we've yet to see.

This is true no matter what field of study or career you choose to be a part of. Even further, you can say these life-long lessons have a bit more weight to them when others have to deal with the consequences of your ignorance. That's when it's serious!

If you think about it, our lives impact so many more people than we know. If we fail to take responsibility for our environment, learn everything we can, and show up to each situation as our best selves, we offer the possibility of someone around us feeling the weight of our decisions.

As I type those words above, my mind thinks about my fiance, dog, future kids, my family, and close friends. The decisions I make on a daily basis will have either a negative or positive impact on their lives. FACT!

With that being understood, so few of us choose to take that responsibility a step further. I'd imagine my guest today Stephen Scrobe has a similar list as mine. However, that list gets a little bit longer each morning before he goes into work. As a husband, father, and deputy for the Greenville County Sheriffs Office, it's safe to say his broad shoulders carry a heavy load.

What makes the load bearable is Stephens's willingness and intent to show up each day as his best self. It means committing to a life of training, learning, and improvement. It's about constantly keeping up with the world around us. If we don't evolve and change, how can we take on life's evolving lessons?

Being a beacon of hope, Stephen dedicates himself to law enforcement and the continued growth and development of his fellow officers. Through Knight's Armor, Stephen helps provide physical training, mental health services, tactical training, and more to officers and agencies across the country. It's all about improving the person to better handle the demands of their surroundings.

"KNIGHT'S ARMOR IS HERE TO GIVE OFFICERS THE CONFIDENCE TO BE BOTH THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD AND THE CALM IN THE STORM."

Jump into today's episode while Stephen and I discuss the importance of getting mentors in life, following through, re-inventing ourselves, and being and example for others.
