Jimmy puts his foot down and refuses to let Nate join him on Uber-Moguera to recapture Bill the Jotnar. Hello, Kaiju Lovers! The Monster Island World Tour moves into Europe with a stop in Oslo, Norway, to discuss the 2010 found footage kaiju film, Trollhunter (not to be confused with Netflix’s Troll from 2022—we already covered that). Nate is joined by his college chum, the founder of Nerd Chapel, Eric Anderson, to dive into a movie that says Christians need not apply to be Norway’s hunter of trolls (and we don’t mean the internet variety). That’s just one of the many aspects of this unique film that these two Christian nerds get into. Prepare yourself for a heaping dose of theology and folklore! For the Toku Topic, Nate delves into the “monster masts” controversy surrounding the construction of electrical lines in rural Norway, which helped inspire the film.

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! Yes, Nate misremembered when the bonus episode on The Barbados Project was supposed to happen. But the good news is you got it sooner! Anyway, this low-budget found footage kaiju horror film is great warm-up to the next mainline episode on Trollhunter. It can be viewed (again) on Tubi, but it originally played the film festival circuit and on the obscure streaming service POV Horror. It's a rare film produced in the island nation of Barbados, let alone a kaiju film. But there are reasons it's flown under the kaiju fandom's radar and the Island houses none of the creatures in it.
