The Monster Rally Podcast

There has been queer subtext (or just plain text) in monster/horror stories going back for centuries, and it is only more prevalent since thew advent of cinema (looking directly at you, Dracula's Daughter), so it's high time we celebrate Pride. In this episode, the Monstie Mommies combine their powers for the first time to just absolutely steamroll & bully James, as Gary had the forethought to be "sick" this episode, and they talk all about the Karen Kusama/Diablo Cody sapphic classic Jennifer's Body.

The illustrious Wes Craven presents Dracula 2000 saga concludes here! If you're looking for Dracula to, you know, be present throughout the movie, you'll find this movie lacking. HOWEVER! If you're looking to see Roy Batty fight a priest who knows his kung fu, you could do far worse than Dracula III: Legacy.

As it turns out, this is the 100th episode of the Monster Rally Podcast (including bonus episodes)! We have done *nothing* to celebrate it.

We're back to Drac, who looks like a low rent Billy Idol, or lower rent Spike, and not, at all, like Gerry Butler in the sequel to Dracula 2000 that you never knew about. If you're hoping for a greater investigation of the lore of Dracula Iscariot, you'll be sorely mistaken, but at least there's an awesome vampire hunting kung fu priest.

The Monstie Men take a break from the Dracula 2000 Trilogy for a trip to the cinema! there's a new mummy movie out, so you know that they had to rush to the theater to cover it. Plus, they'll be covering Lee Cronin's other Hollywood film this summer, so it was a no brainer. Oh, is this an Evil Dead movie?

In a special edition of the Monster Rally, James had the opportunity to interview the great William Sadler (who we've talked about previously in our Tales from the Crypt episode) during his press tour for his new monster movie, The Yeti, so we're bringing that to you here. PLUS! The Monstie Men do a spoilerific review of the film.

Gary is fresh out of horny jail and ready to dive into one of the wildest, boldest, most nothing-est takes on Dracula in Dracula 2000, a movie that Wes Craven kind of presented. Gerry Butler as sexy Dracula? We're in!

EDITOR'S NOTE: In the time between the recording & posting, the Disney/OpenAI deal was scrapped, so don't "@" us.

Friend of the show & Geekscape pillar Katie Hampton is back on the show with Jules, a movie starring Ben Kingsley and filmed in the gorgeous & proud state of New Jersey. It's *kind of* an alien invasion flick that Katie tricked James into thinking was a monster movie.

James & Alessia loved everything about the original Castle Freak. How does the remake from 2020, a year that was totally chill & nothing bad happened, hold up?

James & Alessia fully let their (castle) freak flags fly in this one, Lil Monsties. This is a series of firsts, and certainly won't be the last, of us covering Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Stuart Gordon, HP Lovecraft, Full Moon Features, or any combination thereof, we promise. Castle Freak is a gnarly, bizarre, and horny movie that is just a little bit perfect, not despite its flaws, but because of them.

Fan-favorite Alessia Dawn fills in for Gary as she & James are joined by fellow Geekscapers, the Jersey Ghouls, as they delve into the John Carpenter X Stephen King classic car collaboration! This was a blind spot in Carpenter's body of work for James, and even though they're both huge King fans, it's very funny that the Ghouls were brought on to talk about his bro-iest film adaptation.
