The Lone Ranger had been sent by a padre who was concerned about this gang. They soon discover that men like Dan Martin looking into this gang were paying for it with their lives.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto know that Johnny Matelund is the best man to be Sheriff of Mountain City. Johnny has been lured away and the Lone Ranger realizes a trap has been set for him. They pursue Johnny but soon find an ambush was set for him.

Mountain City became the fur capitol of the West. The city wants to make someone like Johnny Matelund the next sheriff for the summer. But theres been trouble lately and Johnny is reluctant to be a lawman. But some influential folks like Harry Sedley have different ideas for the new sheriff.

Betty Manning works in a cafe in Cold Water. The Lone Ranger has become aware of some strange happenings in Cold Water and knows Betty needs help. Some folks have been disappearing for a while and return a changed person, including Bettys father.

The Lone Ranger now suspects that Benjamin Steels action to fire his own crew has a secret purpose. Jim Carries daughter has been taken prisoner by Wolf with a large bounty to get her back. Jim will do anything to get Aby back but the Lone Ranger knows who is really behind the kidnapping and why.

After the Tomahawk Trail Crew caused trouble in Leadville, their boss Benjamin Steel fired them. The Lone Ranger and Tonto discover the violent crew of a hundred men lead by a man named Wolf camped out nearby. The Lone Ranger believes it is in everyones best interest to help Steel, regardless of what he had done.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto save a local rancher from falling prey to Benjamin Steels offer to buy his ranch. Steel had poisoned the waters in order to force the rancher to sell. But the rancher is not convinced and blames the Lone Ranger for the lost sale, and Benjamin Steel is crafting a plan to beat the Lone Ranger.

The Lone Ranger continues working to prove that Benjamin Steel, former leader of the Black Arrow, is a criminal worse than any outlaw. Benjamin Steel brazenly demands the Lone Ranger leave Tomahawk Basin where he has his cattle. The Lone Ranger promises not to leave until he is in jail.

Jeff Aldens horse arrived at his home but without him on it. The Lone Ranger discovers Jeff is alive but taken captive. Farrel has told his plan to stage the death of Jeff but The Lone Ranger is on to their plans.
