This was a very special in-person podcast with Jared because it took place in my parents' backyard in the house I grew up in. I've never had the opportunity to show another "Internet friend" my hometown until the day we recorded this episode. I've also never smoked a cigar, which is evident by my smoking technique in the video, so it was a podcast full of first experiences. It was also full of some incredibly fun and thoughtful conversation.
In this episode, we cover:
-Our amazing day before the podcast
-The importance of enhancing experiences in life
-Meeting people in-person vs who they are online
-Who we would freak out meeting
-Why guys feel "compelled" to do manly things
-Expectations as a child
-Using jiu-jitsu to increase confidence
-The issue most cops won't tell you
-Why people love Nate Diaz
-The importance of curse words
-Why it's so crucial to be as real as possible on social media
-Why imposter syndrome can lead to growth
-People being addicted to drama and self-sabotage
-Why we crave familiarity over happiness
-The concept of "beginning again" and re-focusing
-"Snapping" into a different person
-How perspective shifted once COV*D came
-Joe Rogan's "Be The Hero Of Your Own Movie"
-Letting your old self die
-Being kinder to yourself
-The paradox of feeling fear and courage at the same time
-Accepting negative emotions
-Practical application for getting out of a rut
-Why Jared doesn't want kids (right now)
-and much more!
NOTE: Apologies for the video stopping around the 60-minute mark—we ran out of battery. But, enjoy the cute animals.

Not all nutrition habits are created equal. Some are more beneficial than others, so it's important we aim to double down on those. We're all busy, which means we need to spend our energy wisely. In this Minisode, I cover 4 (specific) nutrition habits that you can leverage today to lose more fat, build more muscle, improve your overall health, and feel better on a daily basis.

Nothing sounds worse than dieting the entire summer. Getting chicken and broccoli at brunch while everyone else gets french toast and mimosas? No thanks. That said, I also don't want to blow up, not feel comfortable in my swimsuit, and be unhealthy. We've gotta find the balance and that's what this episode is all about. I begin the episode with a brief life update and the pros and cons of living in New York City vs living in Kentucky. After that, I dive into my exercise, nutrition, and overall mindset approach for this summer. The goal is to look good without limiting my fun. I hope it helps you do the same. Enjoy!

Nothing is more frustrating than when you're giving your all to your nutrition and workout plan, yet progress seems to have stalled. Should you cut carbs? Should you add more cardio? Should you take a fat burner? There's so many unknowns and we often make the plateau even longer by sabotaging our progress. So, I made this Minisode for you to troubleshoot when the scale won't budge and you're doubting your efforts. You run through each of these and you should have at least a *better* idea of what is causing the plateau than before. Ideally, you have an "ah-ha" moment, adjust, and continue making progress — gotta watch to find out. Hope it helps!

I don't know about you, but I plan on wearing some offensively short shorts this summer. So I'm doubling down on the leg training and I hope you'll join me by starting with this Minisode. Most people think of muscular legs as having big quads. Quads are important, but to properly fill out those shorts, pants, and swimsuits, you'll want to pay extra attention to your glutes, hamstrings, and calves (I'm mostly talking to the guys here, women usually have no problem hitting glutes often). In this Minisode, I show you exactly how to do that and what exercises to focus on. Hope you enjoy and remember: let those thighs out.

This was, obviously, a fun one for me. In this episode, I had on my 21-year-old sister, Sarah. At the time of recording this, she was staying with me in my apartment in NYC for her fashion internship, which we briefly touch on in the beginning. The rest of the conversation might really surprise you, as we touched on some topics that I've never talked about before. Things like the story of our house burning down, figuring out what you DON'T want to do, making riskier life choices, starting your own business or side hustle, the common struggles of your twenties (and beyond), putting yourself out there on social media, family bonding moments, and more.
I tried to actually make this an entertaining and thought-provoking chat, instead of just random ramblings with my little sister (although, there's plenty of sh*t-talking). For those who do decide to listen to this one, I think you'll be happily surprised with how great this conversation turned out. Enjoy!

This is a very special Minisode because it's the last Minisode I'm doing in New York City. My girlfriend of 4+ years and I are breaking up and I'm moving back home to Kentucky. So, I used this Minisode to reflect my thoughts on what's been helping me through the breakup because it's "fresh" in my mind and will (hopefully) be useful to those of you also going through tough times. Things happen and "life" can knock you down, but giving up on all your responsibilities and eating terrible out of self-pity won't help anything. The things I teach in this Minisode, however, will. Enjoy.

Sam returns for his second appearance on the podcast and he's back with even more knowledge to drop this go-round. Sam is a fitness coach, coach of coaches, podcast host of the Sam Miller Science Podcast, a Fortune 500 Speaker, and a dog dad. In this episode, we touch on imposter syndrome, confirmation bias in the fitness industry, how to create lasting changes from a behavioral standpoint, how to manage and reduce stress by hitting a few important things each day, why it's OK to have "seasons" of your fitness goals, and much more. Sam's a super smart guy and it's always a pleasure to have him on. Hope you enjoy.

To give context, the all-or-nothing mentality is when you strive for perfectionism or nothing. In regards to nutrition, you're either "on" your diet or "off" your diet. No in-between. But, of course, your actions can be a bit more nuanced than that. In fact, this line of thinking has been shown in the research to be less effective than a more flexible approach. So in this Minisode, I give my best advice that I've given to my clients and many others to successfully combat this line of thinking, and what to do instead. Hope it helps.

If you ask the bodybuilders, they'll say machines are better so you can isolate the muscles. But if you talk to powerlifters or strength athletes, they'll say all you need is a barbell and dumbbells to get the best workout. So, who's right? And what about for someone who is just an "everyday" lifter and not worried about being a bodybuilder or powerlifter—what's best for them to look good, feel good, and be in-shape? I cover it all in this one and give some pros and cons to each, plus how to apply it to your program. Hope it helps!
