This week, Jaime, Vashita, and Gabe discuss the latest at the Ohio Statehouse, including new hearings on the six-week abortion ban, the Down syndrome abortion ban, and the Abortion Method Ban. The Abortion Method Ban was ruled unconstitutional in Texas while we were on our Thanksgiving break. We also discuss the enormous volume of sexual harassment and assaults that have been revealed in Ohio and across the country. Next week, the Ohio House Health Committee will vote the senate version of the Down syndrome bill out of committee. A potential floor vote on December 13 would send Senate Bill 164 to Gov. Kasich's desk to be signed into law.

For Thanksgiving, Kellie and Ashley sat down with the participants in our 2017 class of Patients to Advocates, a fellowship program sponsored by NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Foundation, New Voices Cleveland, Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, and Preterm. In its second year, the program involves a variety of efforts to talk to their community about the importance of abortion access.

This week, Gabe, Kelley, and Jaime discuss this week’s committee vote on the Down syndrome abortion ban. After the hearing, NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio went to the office of the Speaker of the House to deliver a petition “quilt” with 2,000 signatures to stop these attacks on reproductive rights.

This week, Gabe, Kelley, and Annie discuss Mike DeWine’s anti-choice extremism. Thursday, DeWine appeared with Rick Santorum at a campaign stop meant to highlight his disdain for reproductive rights.

We also talk about the #MeToo grassroots movement to raise a widespread understanding of the scale of America’s problem of sexual harassment and assault.
