This is a story from the Zuni People. This story is one of my favorites for introducing the flute or recorder. It is also wonderful to tell and create a painting from.

This is part of two of the story of how the Dineh people came to this world. I love this story for introducing the four directions and how mountains are formed.

This story comes form the Pima People. This story can also be used for 3rd grade shelter building, 5th grade Geography and Botany, and 4th grade Geography.

This story comes from the Dineh People of the Southwest in the US. The Dineh people are also known as the Navajo. They hold in their ceremonial stories the history of the worlds that came before this one.

In the classroom I stretch stories out over a few days to build anticipation. The story of Noah and the Flood is an ancient story and well known. In this retailing I include parts of the story that are often left out, like the measurement of the ark. This story is a nice one to introduce measurement.

Included is a recitation of Charles Mackay's poem Tubal Cain. We do not impart poetry enough with our students. This results in a vocabulary that is lacking and difficulty in writing creatively. In this story, we meet two brothers. These brothers try their best to please God but only one of they will. One will become so jealous that he does the unthinkable.

This is the second creation story in Bible. Here, first man and first woman, Adam and Eve, face temptation. If you are looking for a fun way to explore these stories, I recommend wet on wet painting each of the days of creation. If you use only primary colors, the children can explore color combinations. These acts of their own creation empower them academically as well.

In Waldorf schools, the third grade often studies the stories from the Hebrew people. This story begins at genesis, the creation story. This story is one of the most ancient stories still told today. In the book of Genesis there are two creation stories. In the first one, God makes everything in 6 days and rests on the 7th. In the second story, God makes Adam and Eve. This is the First of the creation stories. I have also recorded the second story.

This story is from the Anikara People related to the Lakota who live in the northern plains in the United States and in the southern plains of Canada. This story starts with a portion of their emergence story and I have merged with it the Sharing Corn story. This is a wonderful story to use to introduce the 4 directions, sharing bounty of the harvest, and the concept that everyone has a calling if they just listen to their still quiet voice. Enjoy!
