When we are afraid to pray, it can be very intimidating considering that we have no idea how or even what to pray for when we feel this way. That's why Rebecca wanted to give you three things to keep in mind when this happens.

Our desire for immediate results from technology bleeds into our expectations of other humans. Instead of seeing them as people created in the image of God, we treat them as cogs in the wheel of progress and production. But God is not a God in a hurry. We cannot rush His purposes, but here are five parts of church life we are frequently tempted to speed up.

Many of us are big fans of IKEA because of their unique furniture and their many great home products that they offer. But they recently have made a mistake that has really got Rebecca fired up. Apparently, you can get a world map there for around $29, but there is just one problem. It's missing the country of New Zealand and even worse, the entire continent of Antarctica. If you've known Rebecca for any amount of time, you know that she LOVES Antarctica and to have this injustice happen is a huge deal for her.

It may sound like a weird question, but have you ever been afraid to pray? Rebecca deals with back problems periodically and this weekend was one of those times where it was starting to act up again. However, as she was sitting down journaling her prayer in her quiet time, she didn't ask God to heal her pain because she was afraid that God would disappoint her with His answer. Even if you've never with that particular situation, it's no doubt that we have all at least faced a time when we prayed for God to do something and later came to find out that he didn't grant our request. But if you look at Luke 22 when Jesus is praying to God before his crucifixion on the cross, he always starts and ends the prayer with the same words, "if it's your will." What if we had this mindset in our own prayer walk?

Many of us may not pay attention to this type of news but the North Pole is actually moving! However, that's not really out of the normal as the North Pole moves approximately 30 miles a year. However, in order to find "True North" you can't follow the North Pole because you'll end up lost in the middle of nowhere. You actually have to use a map. The same goes for in our lives whenever we're following God. In order to truly follow God and His will, our Bibles are the only way to know. In a sense, you could say our Bibles are our way of finding "True North."

Actor Chris Pratt has been an outspoken believer in Christ for some time and frankly, in the world of Hollywood, that is a feat in itself. However, recently Chris Pratt was on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and he shared about his Daniel Fast and his motivation behind that. He also discusses a quote by Christine Caine that changed the way he sees his role in Hollywood which says:

‘If the spotlight that is shining on you is brighter than the light that comes from within you, it’ll kill you.’”

When was the last time you blew it? I don’t mean a little mistake or a small oversight; I mean the kind of hair-raising, heart-stopping, mind-numbing blunder that makes you want to curl up fetal-style in the corner. When you have owned your mistake, done everything you can to fix it; when you have implemented a system to avoid a repeat, and when you have spent time in prayer asking the Lord to reveal any blind spots that may have contributed to it, you must receive God’s grace even if it’s the only grace offered. Remember what it feels like to fail, but don’t wallow in it. Let it compel you to lavish grace upon those who will one day need it from you.

Yesterday, Jeff got a dreaded letter in the mail that no one wants to get. It was from the IRS and they have said that Jeff owes them money from a few years back. Despite how frustrating the situation was, Jeff was grateful that God doesn't have that type of relationship with us. You see, God will never come to you and say that he has forgiven your sins, but there is a few from back in the day that you'll have to take care of on your own. He either died for all sins or He died for none of them. Aren't you grateful that God has sealed that gap between us and Him and that we can relax and feel peace in the knowledge of His grace and love for us?
