She is experienced in the fields of public policy, social marketing, media advocacy, global tobacco control, health education, community capacity/power building, and leadership development. She is a proud co-founding member and Co-Chairperson of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC). Created to inform the direction of tobacco control policy, practices, and priorities, the AATCLC works at the intersection of public health policy and social injustice. They have fought resolutely against the decades of racialized tobacco industry targeting of the Black community and the resulting 45,000 Black lives lost each year from tobacco-induced diseases. www.savingblacklives.org The AATCLC has been at the forefront of the national movement to restrict the sale of mentholated tobacco products, assisting municipalities across the country. In 2020, the AATCLC, ASH, the American Medical Association and the National Medical Association filed an administrative lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration for its failure to take mentholated tobacco products off the market. The lawsuit prompted the FDA to declare that it will begin the arduous rule-making process in 2022 to finally take deadly menthol and little cigars off the market. Carol has received honors from many organizations including the San Francisco and Berkeley Branches of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She served as NAACP Branch President for Berkeley, CA for two terms. She received the prestigious Biddy Mason “unsung shero” award in 2021.

West had been dropped by his talent agency, CAA, and studio executives at MRC announced on Monday that they would be shelving a recently completed documentary. “We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform,” the executives wrote in a joint memo released this morning. While 300 million people practice yoga globally and there are numerous yoga nonprofit organizations worldwide, only one, Yoga Gives Back, specifically engages global practitioners to give back to Mother India. In 2007, Kayoko Mitsumatsu began to practice yoga.  She experienced such tremendous mental and physical benefits that she felt a strong calling to give back to Mother India. While working as a documentary filmmaker, Kayoko learned about micro-financing, specifically for underserved women in developing countries to start their own income-earning work, and the remarkable impact for the recipients and their families to end the vicious cycle of generations of poverty. Fifteen years ago, when she shared this story with those in her yoga class in Los Angeles, they all supported her vision. Thus, this became Kayoko’s mission…to give back to Mother India for the gift of yoga by providing micro-loans and scholarships to these underserved mothers and daughters. Her mantra became, “For the cost of one yoga class, you can change a life.”

Other leading entertainment industry figures including Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel called on all companies that work with the musician to cut ties with him after he tweeted he wanted to go "death con 3" on Jewish people.
