When Jesus Christ died, we were liberated from every obligation of the Mosaic law. We were FREED from the bondage of corruption, that is, alienation from God in our minds. However, although freedom was given through Christ as a free gift, many still live in bondage. They are enslaved by the deceitful lust of relying on themselves and their works.

There is a difference between liberty and freedom. Freedom is a gift acquired by Christ and given to us freely, while experiencing and expressing liberty is a choice. You will either live by the law or by the faith of Christ alone, believing in the identity that He has provided to you.

“[…] Believe what is true about you. You don’t know how far you can go in good works and cause men and women to praise the name of Christ. Aren’t you mindful that men give praise to God because of your sake?” 

We are to learn to say YES to GOD’S YES, to what is true about us. When this faith is effective, there’s nothing that can stand on our way. We are to WATCH one another to STIR UP one another to love and good works. That is our interaction, our manner of life. We incite ourselves to love. Only the Power of the Gospel stirs up to love and generosity – that outward response to the inner working, that produces tangible effects. God doesn’t forget the fruit of our labor of love.

In the Church of Thessalonica, their labour of love could be perceived because they perceived the necessity to propagate the Gospel. They were missionary–hearted. They always possessed joyfulness at the hearing of the Gospel and received it, not as coming from man, but as the Word of God. This caused them to have the effectual working of the Power of the Gospel within them. It resulted in diligence, labour, constrain of the love of God. We are all inter–related because we are part of God’s inter–penetration that happens between the Father and the Son.

"[...] I know in whom I have believed, and I know that He is able. By His testimony in me and the trust that I have in Him, he will work out His own testimony."

The original plan of God was to bring men to a place of compatibility with His Son, so we live in union and participation with Christ. Christ alone expresses the image of the invisible God out of us so that His image in us, works out tangible expressions of the supernatural energies of God. Our purpose is to reveal Christ in us rather than revealing Christ out of us by focusing on His outworking in our lives. When we focus on the person of Christ within us, our soul gets rehabilitated and our mind is renewed in order to receive the abundant grace of God where others see lack or need.

As we learn to interact with the Godhead and live in such a manner that the voice of Christ speaks louder than men-made testimonies, others will abide and experience the same tangibility of in-working of God. "[...] The gospel comes to subject the will of the body and that of the soul to the knowledge of Christ, and that is the testimony (the seal) of God..."

We are to have the inner witness of the presence of God before we can have tangible effects outwardly. Not having a firm conviction of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ will cause the testimony of God to be in vain in your life because there will be no real basis for faith. When you have the witness of the Son of God in your heart, you are made a son. God alone is able to establish you in His word, and He requires an open heart.

"[...] The ark of the testimony got its name from the fact that, it was the housing of God's testimony to His people, representing God's testimony, God's agreement, God's covenant..."

Under the Old Covenant, the ark of the Covenant was the ark of His testimony, referring to an agreement which God had with His people. It signifies God's presence amongst His people. One of the last things the Lord Jesus Christ asked the Father on our behalf is that we shouldn’t be taken out of the world. He stated that we are not of the world even as He was not of the world. There are certain implications to this high priestly prayer of our Lord, which we need to understand if we must effectively minister Christ to our world.

We are the express image of Christ in the world. We have been given charge over a system that is inclined towards evil, that we, who are of the divine realm, may superimpose the plan of God in this present arrangement of things. We are to announce the reconciliation of God and man in this world for it is by us who bear the image of the divine Son that the world will know the form of God. Dr. Annie Smith expounds on the image of Christ, His Likeness, and vocation as the purpose of our living in this world.
