Feeling Lost After High School? How to Create a Vision for Your Future

In this episode, we're talking about how to create a vision for your future without feeling pressured to have your entire life figured out. You'll learn why focusing on who you want to become matters more than having a perfect plan and how to move forward with confidence, even when the path isn't completely clear.

The Moxie Teacher Podcast - Episode 4: "The Real Reason You Can't Say No"
How many times this week did you say yes and immediately regret it? This episode is for you.
People-pleasing isn't just "being nice." It's anxiety in disguise. It's your brain trying to avoid rejection, conflict, and disappointment. And while it brings relief in the moment, it slowly drains you from the inside out. Low-grade resentment. Invisible exhaustion. Feeling unseen even by the people closest to you.
The most ironic part? People-pleasers are usually terrified of losing people, but people-pleasing is exactly what keeps you from truly connecting with them. It's not a personality flaw. It's a pattern. And patterns can change.
3 Things To Try This Week:
Being kind and being a people-pleaser are not the same thing. One comes from a full cup. The other comes from fear.

Most of us were only ever taught to label three emotions: mad, sad, and happy. But there are over 100 identified emotions — so when something more complicated shows up, your brain goes blank. You can't explain it, you can't talk about it, and the discomfort pushes you to either shut down, blow up, or push it away entirely.
Here's the thing — that's not a personality problem. It's a skill gap. And skill gaps can be fixed.
There's real neuroscience behind this: putting a name to what you're feeling actually calms your brain down. Not in a "good vibes only" way — in a legit, neurological way. Naming an emotion takes it from something big and overwhelming and turns it into something you can actually work with.

Show Notes:
Here's what we cover in this episode:
#5 – Your Future Career — AI is changing a lot of jobs, but it can't replace you. Communication, teamwork, and handling stress are the skills employers actually want.
#4 – Sports & Activities — Coaches aren't just looking at your talent. They want players who are coachable, calm under pressure, and emotionally switched on.
#3 – College & Real Life — Getting into college is one thing. Actually handling your life once you're there is a whole different challenge — and these skills are what make it possible.
#2 – Your Friendships & Relationships — How you communicate and deal with conflict determines whether your relationships feel good or totally draining.
#1 – Your Relationship With Yourself — This is the big one. How you talk to yourself and handle your emotions affects every single decision you make.
Most teens are expected to figure out life, relationships, and emotions without ever being taught the skills that actually matter.
In this first episode of The Moxie Teacher Podcast, Sarah shares why she started teaching teens emotional intelligence and life skills — and why understanding yourself is one of the best investments you can make in your future.

Why do we overreact when we’re stressed or anxious?
In this episode of The Moxie Teacher Podcast, I explain how emotional reactions are created through the thought–emotion–action loop and why stress and anxiety make emotions feel bigger than the moment. I break down what’s happening in the brain and how emotional intelligence helps us pause, regulate emotions, and respond with intention instead of reacting automatically.
You’ll learn how thoughts influence emotions and behavior, why your brain jumps to conclusions under pressure, and simple ways to interrupt reactive patterns and build healthier emotional habits.

Fear gets a bad reputation. But fear is not the problem.
In this episode, we talk about what fear actually is, why it shows up so strongly, and how it often confuses discomfort with real danger. When something feels uncertain, your brain fills in the gaps with worst-case stories. That can make fear feel urgent, convincing, and hard to ignore.
You will learn how to slow fear down enough to understand what it is trying to protect, how to check it for truth, and how to decide your next step without letting fear run the whole show.
This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, overthinks their choices, or wants to move forward but keeps second-guessing themselves.
If this episode resonated with you and you are supporting a teen who struggles with fear, overthinking, or stress, I created a course just for them!
