Our guest for Episode 23 of The Music Chat Podcast is Anthony Gomes, a Canadian guitarist who recently released his 12th album.  Anthony is a highly-respected blues guitarist who has opened for many of the "heavy hitters" of the genre, including Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Joe Bonamassa, and Robert Cray, among many others.  During our conversation we talk about his new album, Peace, Love & Loud Guitars, and also about the importance and power of music.  

This talk with Anthony is one of my favorite conversations to date, he has an immense knowledge of the history of the blues and music in general.  Anthony also possesses a wonderful perspective on the place music has in our society.  I hope everyone listens all the way through this episode, especially the portion where Anthony discusses the Music Is the Medicine Foundation, an organization that uses music to help individuals that have endured traumatic experiences in their lives.

For Episode 21, we have another special guest, writer and Texas music historian Joe Nick Patoski.  Joe Nick is currently the host of The Texas Music Hour of Power,  7-9 pm central, Saturday nights,  on MarfaPublicRadio.org.  He has been in and around the Texas music scene for decades, saw some of its most celebrated performers before they became mainstream sensations, and has written biographies on Stevie Ray Vaughan, Willie Nelson, and Selena among his other published works.  My conversation with Joe Nick had some audio challenges at times, but the content and history that Joe Nick shares in this episode is amazing. If you are a fan of the blues, the Vaughan brothers, or the great state of Texas, you will want to listen to this episode.

For Episode 20 of The Music Chat Podcast, we have something a little bit different than previous episodes. We are joined by Sian McMullen, who is an audio engineer.  Sian works on the recording and production of tracks both as a freelance engineer and for major record labels.

This interview was fun to participate in, but also educational in that it provides a behind the scenes look at what goes into the song recording process.  Sian is a great example of someone organically developing an interest in the music business and then having the determination to develop a career in the business through taking chances and sheer persistence.  I really appreciate having the opportunity to talk with her, and I hope you all enjoy our conversation.
