Just a few days ago a Mexican tuna boat rescued an Australian man after his damaged catamaran had been lost in the Pacific Ocean for 3 months.
But that’s not the story we’re telling today.
In 2012, two men left the Pacific coast of Mexico in a small fishing boat, hoping to have a successful catch and bring some much-needed money home.
Only one made it back to the shore alive. That shore was in the Marshall Islands, over 5000 miles away, and he was on that boat for 438 days.

Welcome to the final episode of our series dedicated to the story of the disappearances of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon, two young women from the Netherlands who went to Panama for some sun, fun and adventure.
We’ve called the podcast Secrets in the Jungle-The Disappearance of Kris and Lisanne, and I’d like to thank you for joining us here on Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. In this final episode, Part 3 we’ll look at some of the theories that may explain what happened, and we’ll let you know about some recent developments in the case that just might put the whole thing to bed.
If you haven’t heard parts 1 and 2, you might want to check those out first before continuing so you can get the full story.
A mysterious woman in black roams the streets of Guatemala, asking strangers for help, and in the jungles of the Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, some not-always merry pranksters who run wild and are blessings or
But these aren’t just stories from centuries gone-by, these are tales told by people who swear they’ve seen them today…
I’m Andrew Colón, and these are just two of the many myths, legends and mysteries of Latin America.
In May 2023 seven people flew on a small plane from one indigenous village to another in the Amazon Rainforest.
Shortly into the flight, the plane crashed in dense jungles.
Miraculously 4 people survived… and they were CHILDREN ranging in ages from 13 years old to 11 months old.
They spent 40 days trying to survive the horrors of the Amazon.
This is the latest story for the Mysteries of Latin America podcast…with your host Andrew Colón.
Welcome to the Mysteries of Latin America podcast.
My name is Andrew Colón and welcome to the final episode of our series dedicated to the story of the disappearances of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon, two young women from the Netherlands who went to Panama for some sun, fun and adventure. It was on an ill-fated hiking trip though, that these two young women disappeared and it’s still a Mystery as to What exactly happened to them.

In this episode and the following one (as I’ve added a Part 3), we’ll try to unravel the many sometimes contradicting clues in the case, especially objects found and a haunting set of photographs found on their phones and a camera, we’ll look at theories and speculation that have emerged over time, and we’ll let you know how the investigation stands today.
I think that when we’re through, you’ll see why I chose this as one of the most compelling mysteries of Latin America.

Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon were two students from the Netherlands who planned to spend some time in the picturesque town of Boquete, Panamá beginning in mid-march of 2014.
Boquete, located in the western highlands of Panama and not far from the border with Costa Rica, is a charming town known for its picturesque landscapes and pleasant climate, coffee plantations and is a haven for people who love the outdoors and hiking, birdwatching, and exploring.
Kris and Lisanne went out for what was supposed to be a 3 and a half hour hike on April 1st 2014.
They never returned.
This is part 1 of a 2-part podcast where we'll look at what we know and delve into what could have happened to them.
Thank you for listening and sharing and cheers from Cancun

Welcome to another episode of The Mysteries of Latin America. I'm your host, Andrew Colón.
I’ve been a huge fan of mysteries, myths, legends and stories for most of my life.
One of the things I’ve discovered by living outside of the US for a few decades is how little most people outside Latin America know about Latin America.
And now, on to this week’s episode….
Today, we’re gonna take a little trip to explore the story of a once-thriving tourist hub, that met a very eerie fate. Join me as we uncover the secrets of Epecuén, The Modern Day Atlantis in Argentina.
