The Naked Apple Presents: Slices of Salvation

We are commanded to have compassion. It is also good to have empathy toward others. However, is it possible that those attributes can become "toxic" to us? We browse through a few examples in the scriptures where Christ sets some sort of limit on the compassion/empathy that He shows to others. If we are not careful, good and even righteous things can obstruct us from what we should be doing and even the principles we should be holding fast to.

This episode we examine what is possibly one of the greatest attributes of Christ and one of the hardest to exhibit. Meekness is not just simply admitting or internalizing that you are not enough, it requires certain action to be taken. Through it, faith and understanding in the Savior is increased. The Savior even tells us that it is the meek that shall inherit the earth. Join us as we work our way, as humbly as we know how, through examples and reasons for adopting such a trait and what it could do to help enhance our own lives.

If there really is nothing new under the sun, what does the gospel have to tell us about AI? From Paul Harvey to ancient and current appostles, we look at warnings and encouragement with this new tool that we are being introduced to. If we are not careful, we can let this tool take control of our lives, just like any other addiction can. However, if we learn how to properly use it without losing focus on the Savior, Jesus Christ, it can be an incredible force for good and understanding of this beautiful universe God has given us.

Ever wonder why Genesis is at the beginning of the Bible? Why are people always so fascinated and attracted to creativity? We dig in to see how our relationship with the Creator directly affects our desire to do the same. From stacking blocks as a child to inventing the latest microchip to enhance computing power to the next towering skyscraper, to the latest friend added to your circle. Our whole lives center around creation in some form, perhaps it is something we inherited, and it is definitely something we should be developing and multiplying.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, music is worth all of the feelings. Music has a special ability to convey emotion to the listener unlike anything else. It can make you laugh or cry, feel happy or sad, have courage or feel depressed. Perhaps this is why God loves it so much. Join us as we explore a couple of hymns to see what emotion we can draw from them and consider why God considers songs of the heart to be prayers to Him.

After seeing a focus on the parable of the ten virgins during General Conference, we decided to dig in a bit to see what that's all about. Join us as we light our feeble lamps to try to guide you to the Bridegroom as best we know how. We may not be the brightest lights you'll find, but we are commanded to not hide our light.

This week we review some of what we experienced with General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We discuss what we felt were some genreral themes from the speakers and highlighted a few that stood out most to us. One thing became clear to us in the end, put the oil in the lamps.

After learning about the nature of God, and seeing that "God is love," it led us to search what, exactly, is love? We find and discus some examples in both the scriptures and real life and how they equate to God's love. We all must strive to love one another, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we must condone or accept everything from everyone. Love is kind, but love is also harsh. A time and a season for different expressions of love.

What is the nature of God? According to what we find in scripture, it is critical to understand. We journey through the scriptures and modern revelation to try to gain a better understanding of who God is. Why He does what He does and how and where we can see examples of His nature in our own lives.

This episode is all about enduring. From life's troubles, to questions of faith, to all of our corney jokes, our experiences in this life are all things we must learn to endure. Turning to the Savior is the only way to truly manage all of this. What does it mean to endure to the end? What does that look like in our day-to-day? We make an attempt at answering this while also providing resources to search for yourself.
