The Naked Apple Presents: Slices of Salvation

We continue our study in this series by looking at receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is such a critical step to salvation and organizing Christ's church that even Paul was sent out to correct some well intended believers and make sure their baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost was done correctly. Today, it is still just as critical but we also understand it is more than that. As the third member of the Godhead, he is referred to by Christ as the Comforter. Our lives are better as we live in a way to be prepared to recieve the promptings and the guidance of the Holy Ghost.

We've got faith. We've said we're sorry. Now what? The first ordinance in showing your love and desire to follow Christ and take His name upon you is Baptism. It is a simple ordinance, it is also essential. We dig into why that is and add some historical context where possible as usual.

Last week we got some faith. Now what? Now to act on it. One of the first steps in acting on faith is to repent. This week we learn what that means and what it looks like. There are different reasons that may lead someone to repent, but in the end, the goal is to have repentance lead you to align your will with God's. It is more than just saying "sorry," it is turning your mind, heart and life to the path laid out by Christ.

But you gotta have faith! The first principle of the Gospel is Faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. But what is faith? How do you acquire it? How does it develop? What does it lead to? How is it lost? All of these questions and more as we go from comparing faith to seeds to looking at the power that really is behind faith. We do our best to cram as much into this one as we can because there is so much behind this fundamental principle in Christ's Gospel.

With the start of a new year and difficult and even troubling times definitely not on the horizon, we thought it'd be a good idea to look at how to find peace when life troubles you. From calming great storms to calming our hearts, the Savior, Jesus Christ, is the way. We look at some simple steps and life advice from the scriptures to apostles to even Michael Jordan to help us understand the fundamental truths that can help keep us calm in the storms of life and the world around us.

The conclusion of our Atonement study is here. This week we are looking at the space between the death of Jesus Christ and His ascendency before His apostles. From the critical organization of the spirit world to the dual meaning behind "He shall suffer death." It is the ultimate gift. It is the way that makes Christ the way, the truth and the light. It has been the perfect study leading into Christmas and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Continuing in our study of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we now look at His time from the garden to the cross. We look at the purpose for Him to be lifted on the cross and we look at the significance of the events, items, and practices surrounding it all. We also look at what Christ went through personally. Heading into Christmas, this has been a great study to help give greater understanding to the greatest gift ever given to us. The more we learn about and use Christ's atonemnent, the more we get closer to Him, the better, more joyful our lives will be.

Our study of the Atonement continues with looking at what happened the night of Jesus's suffering in Gethsemane. From lonliness to sweating blood. From loyal followers to ultimate betrayal. Christ suffered everything on that night so that He would know perfectly how to help us in times of need. It is possibly one of the more overlooked parts of the Atonement, but the study of just this moment can really help better understand Christ's love and relationship to us.

We are kicking off a month long study this week of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This week is kind of a general overview of what it is, why it's important and how far reaching and powerful it is. The next few weeks will be broken up by the phyisical events of the Atonement, namely the night of Gethsemane, the cross and then the resurection. The Atonement is the primary mission of Jesus Christ, it not only unlocked salvation for all mankind, but it unocked a well of power and comfort for all who suffer. Join us as we attempt to understand more of this amazing gift heading into Christmas where we celebrate the birth of our Savior.

It's that time of year where we gather with friends and family to give thanks for all we have, but why? We glance at the history of Thanksgiving and the idea and importance behind it to our founding fathers. We also look at why it is so important that God asks us to be grateful. It keeps us humble and our focus on Him. Without a grateful heart, it is difficult to realize how good and beautiful life is around you and how much God actually loves you. We hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
