- How we rationalize taking work home with us
Not bringing your frustrations home when you’re working from homeAdvice from an entrepreneur who has been married for over 40 yearsThe conversations that you need to have with your partner to establish non-negotiablesRelationship advice that you SHOULD NOT takeWhy natural problem solvers struggle with issues at homeWhen marriage therapy doesn’t work (and when it does)Resisting the temptation to vilifyThe fear of missing outTransforming your home from a burden to a refugeWe’ve talked a lot about frustration in the workplace, but we haven’t addressed what happens when we bring that frustration home — or how we can avoid doing that in the first place. And let’s get one thing clear: you WILL get frustrated if you are a founder or an executive. It’s a matter of when, not if.
But why did you start a business in the first place? Most of the people we work with say they want the freedom to spend more time with the people who are most important to them, or they want to create a legacy that those people will remember fondly, so we can’t let our business life erode at our family life — that completely defeats the purpose of submitting yourself to the road less traveled in the first place.
