Nasty Pasty investigates two good old-fashioned Italian knock-offs of more prominent high-budget films. This week our two films take varying amounts of inspiration from the nightmarish Xenomorphs of the Alien franchise: 1980’s Alien Terror and 1989’s Shocking Dark!
Our favourite mascot from 88 Films, Dr. Calum Waddell joins forces with the Nasty Pasty to decipher the trailer that hit the internet not so long ago; the long-awaited return of Michael Myers in the 2018 reboot of Halloween. Join us as we discuss our initial thoughts on the film as well as covering the series in general with a special package of 88 Films announcements to round it off!
Nasty Pasty returns to the Zombie series yet again, this time however in a more direct fashion, tackling the two direct sequels to Fulci’s Zombie Flesh Eaters. Strap yourself in for more voodoo magic, viral contamination and a flying zombie head in Zombie Flesh Eaters 2 & 3!
After Dawn of the Dead and Zombie Flesh Eaters had rave success at the box offices across the world, a whole slew of unofficial sequels were rushed through or unrelated films were retitled and remarketed to cash in on the success. Today, we’re covering two such films tied in to the widespread “Zombie” series: 1987’s Killing Birds and 1982’s Panic.
Returning to a rather troubling subgenre of horror, our 29th episode focuses on two quite different films that feature the rape of a character and a subsequent deserved revenge, but not quite in the packaging that we’re used to. Join us for today’s film: 1980’s Mother’s Day and 1971’s Straw Dogs.
Following on from our previous episode on Dario Argento’s Bird With the Crystal Plumage, the Nasty Pasty tackles the two other tenets of terror in the Animals Trilogy, so prepare for cats and flies abound in our two giallo pictures: Cat O’Nine Tails and Four Flies on Grey Velvet.
Retaining a vestige from last week’s episode, the Nasty Pasty Podcast tackles the combination of the Italian poliziotteschi and the giallo, with a smattering of the German krimi film, in this week’s two films from director Massimo Dallamano!
In our 26th episode, we cover two poliziotteschi films from director Umberto Lenzi, featuring cheesy moustaches, gun violence and macho car chases!
In Episode 25 of the Nasty Pasty Podcast, we go back to the era of Nazisploitation for two early examples of the debauched disgrace of the Third Reich!
In Episode 24 of the Nasty Pasty Podcast, we slowly lose control of our bodies and witness a horrifying level of change way worse than adolescence in our Body Horror episode, covering David Cronenberg’s Videodrome and James Muro’s Street Trash!
