Joseph Kabila's death sentence sends shockwaves through Goma

In Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the death sentence handed down to former president Joseph Kabila has sparked strong reactions. 

The military court’s decision especially resonates in Goma. The city has been under the control of the AFC/M23 rebel alliance since January.

Protestors clashed with police across Morocco this week, as youth-led demonstrations demanding better education and healthcare entered their sixth day.

The unrest followed Rajoelina’s decision on Monday to dismiss Prime Minister Christian Ntsay and his government, but the president gave no sign he would step down despite growing calls for his departure.
