Cameroon decides in 11 days 

The previous presidential elections on 7 October 2018 saw incumbent president Paul Biya, who has ruled since 1982, elected for another seven-year term following a 2008 constitutional amendment that removed term limits, allowing Biya to run again.

 

2.    DR Congo - Kinshasha

Former president Joseph Kabila sentenced to death for treason in absentia 

The verdict is in for Joseph Kabila. A military court in the Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday convicted the former president of treason and other charges and sentenced him to death.

 

3.    Ethiopia – Tigray

TPLF Accuses Guarantors of Pretoria Agreement of Inaction, Warns of 'Silent Genocide' in Tigray

The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) has accused the guarantors of the Pretoria Peace Agreement--the United States, the European Union, the African Union, and the United Nations--of failing to act on their commitments, alleging that a "silent genocide" continues in Tigray nearly three years after the accord was signed.

1.    Madagascar- Antananarivo

Madagascar President dissolves government amid deadly protests

President Andry Rajoelina dissolved his government on Monday in response to escalating, youth-led protests over severe water and electricity shortages, a crisis the United Nations reports has left at least 22 people dead and over 100 injured in the most significant challenge to his authority in years.

 

2.    Cameroon- Yaounde

Presidential campaign kicks off in Cameroon as opposition hopes to defeat Paul Biya.

Cameroon's presidential campaign officially kicked off this week, with initially 12 candidates in the running ahead of the election on 12 October 2025. 

 

3.    Zambia – China 

Zambian farmers sue Chinese mining company over toxic spill

Dozens of Zambian farmers have filed a lawsuit against Chinese company Sino-Metals Leach (SML), alleging that a massive toxic spill from its mining waste dam has contaminated their land and water, posing severe health risks and demanding millions in compensation.
