The 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference opened yesterday at the Century City Convention in Cape Town, bringing together police chiefs, ministers, and security experts from across the continent to forge a united front against the threat of transnational organised crime.
The biennial conference, one of INTERPOL’s most significant regional gatherings, will conclude tomorrow the theme of leveraging cooperation, innovation, and partnerships.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud yesterday received a high-level Sudanese delegation led by General Ahmed Ibrahim Ali Mufadal, Director General of Sudan's National Intelligence Service, during an official visit to the capital, Mogadishu.
General Mufadal delivered a formal message from Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reaffirming Khartoum's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Sudan and Somalia.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir is facing accusations of nepotism after appointing his daughter to a top government post.
Adut Salva Kiir has been named Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes, a job formerly occupied by the current vice president. Analysts say the move is part of Kiir’s broader efforts to consolidate power and create a political dynasty.
