A Pretoria High Court ruling has temporarily halted the manufacture and sale of compounded semaglutide products by a local pharmacy group, following legal action by pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk.  South Africa's Top Court Rules Edgar Lungu Will Be Buried in South Africa, Hands Victory to Family

Former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu will be buried in South Africa after the country's Supreme Court of Appeal overturned an earlier ruling that would have allowed the Zambian Government to repatriate his remains for a state funeral and burial in Lusaka.

In a landmark judgment delivered on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the Supreme Court of Appeal sided with former First Lady Esther Lungu, members of the Lungu family, and family spokesperson Makebi Zulu, ruling that they have the legal authority to determine how and where the late president should be laid to rest.

The Presidency has dismissed Peter Obi's call for President Bola Tinubu's resignation, describing it as misplaced and based on what it called a selective interpretation of developments in Nigeria since 2023.

This is contained in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, who said Mr Obi's position failed to reflect the country's constitutional and political realities.

Constitution Defenders Forum Calls for CAB3 to Be Scrapped, Alleges Vote Tainted by Bribery

The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) has called for the immediate withdrawal of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, describing Parliament's passage of the controversial legislation as flawed and tainted by bribery and undue influence.

Following the bill's passage in the National Assembly, CDF convenor Tendai Biti expressed concern over lawmakers' failure to conduct a secret ballot, arguing that the voting process had been compromised by inducements allegedly offered to legislators.

"The process was tainted by widespread inducements, money and vehicles being openly exchanged to influence the outcome. Such conduct undermines the integrity of Parliament and the democratic process itself," said Biti.

After starting his professional career at Cape Town Spurs and having a brief spell at Manning Rangers, Mngomeni became a household name in South Africa, playing for Bush Bucks and Orlando Pirates. He also had a brief spell at Hellenic before retirement. He played for the South Africa national soccer team and participated in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
