Kagame Hails Rwanda-Botswana Ties
Relations between Rwanda and Botswana have entered a new era, thanks to President Paul Kagame's state visit to Gaborone on Wednesday, May 6, during which he met with his counterpart, Duma Boko.
During the two-day visit, six agreements were signed for cooperation in various areas, including double taxation avoidance, visa abolition for select passport holders, air services, health, and trade and investment. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

2. In our historical archives, it was on this day, 8 May 1996, when former deputy president of South Africa, Ntate Thabo Zizi Mbeki, made this historic speech I Am an African on the occasion of the passing of the new Constitution of South Africa.
At the time, Mbeki was the Deputy President of South Africa under the presidency of Nelson Mandela. The speech defined the political mood of the moment in post-Apartheid South Africa and enhanced Mbeki's reputation as a political orator, in which respect he has been likened to Martin Luther King Jr.
