The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) says the ongoing battle between opposition parties in the Tshwane Metro has had a severe impact on the running of the city. The union will be delivering a memorandum of demands as it marches to the city's headquarters, Tshwane House. SAMWU says service delivery has gone down under the DA's leadership. The union is also calling for stability in the council which has been at loggerheads, calling on now outgoing Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa and speaker Katlego Mathebe to step down.

Mobile operators are worried about an increasing number of thefts of batteries from cellphone towers. They say on average 553 incidents per month are recorded where sites have been affected by theft or damage.
