We examine the outcomes of Sadtu’s Provincial General Council. The PGC of Sadtu in KwaZulu-Natal has noted that violence in our schools has had an adverse effect on the working conditions of teachers and according to them there is evidence to suggest that this has had a direct impact on the educational outcomes.

Last week Monday, the High Court in Johannesburg ruled in favour of the NCR against Standard Bank that the common law set-off does not apply to credit agreements which are subject to the National Credit Act. National Prosecuting Authority boss Shamila Batohi has decided to withdraw racketeering charges against former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Johan Booysen. As you may recall, the initial decision by former deputy national director of prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba was set aside by the Durban High Court but the charges were later reinstated by Advocate Shaun Abrahams when he was appointed to lead the National Prosecuting Authority.
