Turkey has just announced that it will impose trade restrictions on Israel starting from today over the ongoing war in Gaza, covering a range of products including cement and steel and iron construction materials. You may recall that Israel and Turkey pulled back their ambassadors from their respective capitals shortly after the start of the war.

ActionSA feels vindicated after the Press Council’s ruling against the publication of questionable political polls ahead of this year’s national and provincial elections. ActionSA had lodged a complaint with the Press Council after Rapport, City Press and News24 ran a poll that was allegedly shared by DA and seemed to favour the party.

Earlier on today, the High Court in Johannesburg ruled that Boy Mamabolo’s case against the ANC is not urgent. Mamabolo was challenging the party’s decision to remove his name from the parliamentary candidate list. At the centre of this issue is Mamabolo’s qualifications. The ANC is arguing that Mamabolo never submitted documents to prove he has a matric certificate, nor the legal qualifications listed on his CV.

The inquest of the deaths of 21 teenagers at the Enyobeni tavern which was supposed to have started today in the Mdantsane Regional Court in the Eastern Cape was postponed. Seven witnesses were supposed to testify in the inquest of the deaths of 21 teenagers at the Enyobeni tavern. The aim of the inquest is to establish if anyone should be held accountable for the deaths which took place in at the tavern in East London in 2022.
