National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council dialogue

President Cyril Ramaphosa has outlined the government's efforts to combat corruption, stating that a society-wide response is necessary. Addressing the two-day National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council dialogue that ended yesterday, Ramaphosa said the government has invested in rebuilding law enforcement agencies and initiated 16 legislative reforms, with eight before parliament. The department of justice and constitutional development has recommended reforms to the Protected Disclosures Act and Witness Protection Act. The fight against corruption is gaining momentum, with Chief Justice Raymond Zondo maintaining whistle-blowers should be paid a percentage of recovered funds. A world-acclaimed US academic has praised the work of the Zondo commission, praising its global impact and highlighting the importance of people who stand up against corruption. Now he joins us just to share his thoughts on how South Africa is perceived worldwide on its efforts to end corruption.
