After hearing about Themba Gorimbo’s tough financial situation, actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson bought the Zimbabwean-born UFC fighter a house. Johnson was moved by Gorimbo's story of how he won his second UFC fight, sold his fight kit and bought a water well for his home village.

A graphic video of a woman assaulting a toddler went viral yesterday causing outrage on social media. The video shows a boy lying on the floor while someone kicks and stomps on him until he cries. It is alleged the person assaulting him is his mother. A community member leaked the video on Facebook, calling for her to be held accountable. Gillian Mogale

The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues to cross examine a friend of the soccer star, Tumelo Madlala at the High Court in Pretoria. Madlala was present when Meyiwa was shot and killed at his then girlfirend, Kelly Khumalo's mother's home in Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg. Five men are on trial for the murder of the Bafana Bafana soccer star. Defence council Sipho Ramosepele, who is representing two of the accused, has questioned Madlala about the sequence of events before the gun went off. SABC News reporter, Pearl Magubane
