A man who was supposed to contest as one of ANC's candidates in the upcoming local government elections after his branch and community elected him says the Home Affairs Department has mysteriously registered him as a dead person. ANC member Siyabonga Mkhize of eThekwini Municipality ward 101 in Durban says he got the shock of his life when he discovered that his name was no longer on the party list. Mkhize is among the over 200 ANC objections in the province. Parties submitted their lists to the IEC by the nine pm deadline on Monday night. Mkhize has appealed to the ANC to intervene.
