When is it appropriate to speak about someone who has passed on? When former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe died the commentary was mixed. He was hailed as a freedom fighter but many others saw him as an oppressive dictator. Many of his critics in Zimbabwe were widely condemned for speaking ill of Mugabe so soon after his death. Most of our cultural attitudes to death and mourning at times offer no space for criticising someone who has died even though they may have a questionable character. Earlier today, the Statistician-General, Mr Risenga Maluleke, released the results of the National Household Travel Survey (NHTS), 2020. Among other things, the report revealed that about 10,1 million learners walked all the way to their educational institution, which is a decrease from the 11 million observed in 2013. However, the highest percentage of learners who walked to their educational institution were found in KwaZulu-Natal (20,3%) and Gauteng (17,7%), followed by Eastern Cape and Limpopo both at 14,6%. The business man who last year flaunted a fleet of luxury vehicles on social media...Well the Pretoria high court has granted the South African Revenue Service (Sars) a provisional order against Gauteng businessman Hamilton Ndlovu, to freeze his bank accounts and seize some of his luxury cars, which include three Porsche vehicles, a Jeep and a Lamborghini Urus SUV. The 32-year-old Ndlovu, made headlines last year during the country's lockdown after posting videos and images of high-end vehicles which he bought for himself and family members.
