Lwazi Chamane from the uSethubeni centre at the Durban Westville correctional centre is the best performing incarcerated matriculant of the 2020 academic year. He obtained an 80.6 percent pass rate, with four distinctions in IsiZulu, Life Orientation, History and Tourism. Earlier today, Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola announced the 2020 matric results at the Leeuwkop Correctional Centre in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg. The 2020 matric class for inmates in correctional facilities across the country has achieved a record breaking pass rate of 86-point-three per cent. Lamola announced that learners also obtained almost 80 distinctions and bachelor passes.
