June can only mean strawberries are ripe for the picking.

The first fruit of the season. After a long winter of living off our stores and dried foods, the first strawberry was a delight like non other. Healthy nutritious and medicinal. The ancient Iroquois would forage the fields for the spring fruit.

Sacred in the Iroquois culture. Strawberry ceremonies and festivals would give thanks to the creator for such a great gift.
