In this episode of The Neighborhood Watch Podcast, host King Williams talks with Athens, Georgia City Councilmember Mariah Parker. Parker gained virality in June of 2018 after winning a special election, by holding up a fist and swearing on The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Since then Parker has won re-election, in addition to becoming a more well-known politician outside of the borders.

Instead of focusing on that viral moment, the interview is comprised of questions on being a non-traditional candidate, prison abolition, calls to ban educational materials, and a framework for reparations for Linnetown, a small Black section of Athens that was destroyed to expand the campus of the University of Georgia.

She is also a battle rapper and we talk about that in the interview as well. She also has released a new single under her rap moniker, Linqua Franqa. Her first video, 'Wurk' has just been released, which will accompany her latest album Bellringer on April 22nd.

In this interview, host King Williams sits down with a fellow Georgia State University alum, Ben Moore (@BenMoore247 on Twitter). Ben is one of the writers at 247 Sports a CBS Sports affiliated sports blog dedicated to Georgia State University athletics. We talk about Ben's recent article on why Georgia State didn't move up during the most recent round of college football realignment.

College football is big money and Georgia State was rumored to be listed on the list of schools to be potentially moved up from the Sun Belt, the 10th out of 10 of the biggest college athletic conference to potentially the Big 12, the 5th out of 10 biggest college athletic conferences.

In this emergency episode of The Neighborhood Watch Podcast, host King Williams talks to Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong of District 5. In the interview, tapped immediately after the controversial 10-4 vote on the new Atlanta Police and Fire Training facility dubbed 'Cop City'. We talk directly about why she voted 'NO' as well as what the most controversial vote of the year going forward means for Atlanta.

In this interview host King Williams talks to Atlanta City Council, District 4 candidate Jason Dozier. Jason is one three candidates seeking to get elected to Atlanta City Council in District 4, and is looking to unseat incumbent Cleta Winslow. Jason is a DeKalb County native who after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan decided to move back into the city of Atlanta to work on improving the city. We talk also talk about his very close race with Winslow in 2017, which saw him lose by less than a thousand votes, and what makes it different in this race. In this interview, host King Williams talks to architectural historian and Tomb with a View Podcast Host Liz Clappin. In this interview we talk in-depth about the Atlanta City Council's recent unanimous decision to remove the Oakland Cemetery Lion from the park. The lion is a 127-year old confederate statue that featured a lion laying on top of a confederate flag to symbolize the 3,000 confederate soldiers who lie in unmarked graves on the grass section of the park.

Oakland Cemetery is one of Atlanta's oldest cemeteries and parks, so we talk about the history of the park and its significance. We talk about the recent tagging and defacing of confederate monuments at Oakland Cemetery as well as Westview cemetery. We talk a lot about how false narratives like 'the lost cause', 'the war of northern aggression, and markers like ones in Oakland Cemetery are used for promoting white nationalism.
