As we near the end of January, there's a topic we've missed discussing: our favorite games of 2020! Well, it's finally time to start talking about some of the best games we've played during the previous 12 months.
But we're doing this in a different way than you might expect. Instead of traditional awards -- like "Best Platformer" or "Best Xbox Game" -- we've decided to make up our own awards and give them to games. However, a new report indicates that Evans and Disney are nearing a deal that would see the return of the fan-favorite Marvel lead character. Hello, and welcome to another new episode of The Nerd Stash Show!
We're a few weeks into 2021, and it didn't seem like there was a lot of news to talk about... until there was! Early this week, Disney and Lucasfilm decided to announce Lucasfilm Games, a new division of the company focused on games. But that was just the start. Then Lucasfilm Games announced Machine Games (yes, developers of Wolfenstein) are working on a new Indiana Jones game with Todd Howard as an Executive Producer. Finally, the company dropped news bigger than an AT-AT, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are making an open-world Star Wars game! Yes, a publisher other than EA is working on a game in the Star Wars universe! Let's break down the massive (pun intended) news!
We also talk about CD Projekt continuing to struggle with Cyberpunk 2077's post-release messaging, some updates on a handful of PlayStation 5 titles, and we bring back the Rapid Fire segment for some quick-hit stories including two games getting delayed (one out of 2021 entirely!). Hello, and welcome to another new episode of The Nerd Stash Show, our first recording of 2021!
It's already been a doozy of a year, and it's just beginning. If you're aware of recent events in America, you'll understand why we start the show with what's happening. As we've said before in the past, we try to avoid these topics since we want to be an "escapist" show, but certain topics are unavoidable and this is one. So, to start the show, we spend the first 15 minutes discussing some of our off the cuff thoughts and feelings about what's going on.
