Marcus Aurelia said these words almost 2000 years ago and a little over five, they changed my life. The concept to me at its core, stop talking. Take action. Stop talking about the man you could be, the man you should be, or the man that you would be and take the necessary steps to just become he. While the statement alone is grand, is considered and is directive, it doesn't come with an instruction manual.

I had to figure it all out for myself. I figured it out for myself so that you don't have to.

I wonder what your immediate response would be if I was to ask you this simple question. Are you happy?

It seems such a simple question, but most people's default answer is some version of, well, I'm not unhappy. But there is a distinct difference between being happy and not being unhappy, and you don't have to live stuck in that washing machine of average.

The problem lies less with your circumstances, your conditioning, or your levels of comfort, and more in the fact you may not even be able to articulate what happiness or even success looks like for you.

You may live in a state of "Region Beta," where your life is not bad enough to force change but not good enough to bring real fulfillment.

If you're a man, a strong man struggling or a high performer left paddling in mental pain, the system is letting you down. Traditional therapy creates an environment that promotes being heard. It promotes being heard and being cuddled in comfort. It's tender and it's designed to befriend you, but men are problem solvers.

Searching for forward-leaning solutions, searching for forward-leaning strategies, and searching for. Not soft places to land soft and assuring are valuable, but to a strong man struggling, they reinforce vulnerability and failure. I am both a victim of a broken system and proof that a different approach is the key to creating success for the strong man struggling.
