The same mistakes that I guarantee you are making right now with your own patients and athletes.
Want to know these mistakes and how to avoid them so you can use special tests the right way...

Most physio’s think they are good listeners when in fact very little are.
Take the subjective assessment.
It is the part of your wider patient assessment and the part of the assessment that the majority of physio’s think they do a great job with…
Most believing that it is their objective assessment that lets them down...
And the main reason why you might sometimes struggle to find the right patient diagnosis and problems.
For some this is true, but for many this is not the case.
There is a big difference between listening and listening well to your patient...
And this can be the big difference in aiding the success of your subjective assessment and helping you find the right patient diagnosis…
Ensuring your patient feels part of their treatment plan...
And in turn helping to keep your patient onside and fully adhered to their home exercise programme.
This is so important given the primary reason patients do not get better it when they don’t do their rehab!
So what is 'real' listening and how do you do it.
Listen to this week's podcast episode to find out!
Enjoy the show.

PS. The subjective assessment is something that therapists undervalue and in most cases wrongly believe they are much better at than they actually are.
I’ll be doing a deep dive into my subjective assessment at my upcoming course, my 1-Day Rehab and Return to Performance Course…
Sat 25th Nov 2023 at Weetwood Hall and Hotel (Leeds, England).
09:00-16:00.
This will include the exact questions I ask, and the reasoning why.
Discover why the traditional subjective assessment questions you learned at Uni leave so much undiscovered for so many patients and why missing this important information is making your life so much harder to find the right patient diagnosis and patient problems.
Head here to secure one of the last few tickets.

Do you just prescribe 3 sets of 10 with your patients rehab and hope for the best?
Do the reps, sets and the intensity in early, mid and later stage rehab look the same?
It can be hard to now exactly what sets, reps and intensity your patients rehab needs to be set at…
At each stage of your patients rehab journey because you never got taught this at University!
Find out what sets, reps and intensities you need to prescribe for patients at each and every stage of the rehab plan...
So you can stop just prescribing 3 sets of 10 reps and hoping for the best!
Enjoy the show!
PS. Prescribing sets, reps and intensity in rehab can be hard as a physio.
In essence this is really a strength and conditioning skill, and something you did very little of, if any, during University training.
So many therapists struggle with this...
So this is why I created my Biomechanics & Strength & Conditioning For Therapists Course.
The online version of this is available right now in the members area of my New Grad Physio Membership.

One of the things that I see new grads do all the time is to try and sound smart.
I did the same thing as a new grad and at the time I was just doing what I had learnt.
You use big words and medical jargon when explaining a diagnosis to your patient.
But whilst what you are saying might make sense in your head, always remember you are a physio, and your patient is not.
So whilst you think you sound more professional and by using fancy language you can sound more experienced it is often at the expense of making your patient confused.
Here's what to do instead!

Tendon injuries can occur anywhere in the body and are notoriously tricky to get a hold of…
And even more difficult to keep at bay, hence why we see so many reoccurring tendon based injuries.
The main reason most physio’s can’t fix tendon based injuries is because they are spending all their time and attention…
And all their patients time and attention on the WRONG problem.
Whilst protocols like eccentrics, isometrics and heavy slow resistance training have been proven to help tendon based pain…
They all miss one important thing!
Listen to today’s podcast episode to discover the big error 9 out of 10 therapists make so you do not do the same thing…
And learn what you need to do instead to not only fix your patients tendon pain…
But ensure this pain does not come back as so many tendon problems do!
Enjoy the show!
PS. Next month I will be showing a small number of therapists exactly how to identify and treat both the site AND source of any injury, including tricky tendon injuries.

Yet 9 out of 10 therapists are still using old fashioned methods to treat these types of injuries.

These are complications that you want to avoid at all costs!
Listen to this week’s podcast episode to learn how to get your patients and athletes back to full fitness safely and much quicker than you ever thought possible…
Using methods that are super simple, yet nobody is using!
Enjoy the show!

Yellow flags are often forgotten about...
Falling in the shadow of red flags.
This in someway is to be expected...
As some red flags are a medical emergency and therefore need to be picked right away.
But yellow flags are much more common...
Yet are never given the time and attention needed in the subjective assessment.
Given the prevalence of yellow flags this just does not make sense!
In this week's podcast episode you will discover two key questions to ask each and every patient you see.
The answers to these two simple questions will help you identify any patient misconceptions about their injury...
And clearly identify your patients level of motivation, enthusiasm and likelihood of a successful outcome to treatment.
Enjoy the show!
