The inspirational Ally Owen launched the Brixton Finishing School in 2017 with an aim to disrupt the way the Creative, Advertising and Tech Industries recruit talent, providing an ‘end to end' solution to meet the industry’s diversity challenges. The Brixton Finishing School offers 18-25 year olds from a diverse range of social, cultural and other groups (Multi-Cultural, Working Class, NeuroDiverse, Female) that are ‘under-represented’ in the creative industry, a free 10-week programme which provides a premium learning experience through a mixture of lessons and real-world experience in the creative industries. Ally and her team find those with untapped creative potential and introduce them to a world where they can fully utilise this potential.
As part of the programme, the Brixton Finishing School’s big name industry partners and sponsors create a pool of entry-level roles just for the graduates of the course and as a demonstration of the success of the course and the hard work of Ally and her team, last years 95% of BFS graduates went on to employment in the creative industries – a simply incredible outcome.
