She hired a private detective online and took a leap of faith to find her biological family.
"Within 24 hours I received all of the information on my biological family on my mother's side," Darlene Keller-Price explains.
From there, her story took several remarkable twists and turns.
Keller-Price ended up locating siblings on both sides of her biological family through ancestry.com and 23andme.com - and all of them were open to connecting with her.
First she met her biological mother's side of the family in Boston. Then she connected with her sister, Val, on her biological father's side. Later a brother from her father's side would also make contact.
Keller-Price said she was amazed by the instant connections. "It's nature vs nurture. They are finding out so much more with DNA. Even with my sister in Boston, we had similarities. We were saying the same phrases."
This has been an emotional process since the first time Keller-Price searched ancestry.com and 23andme.com, but she feels it has all been worth it. She and her two sons have built connections with these former strangers turned family members.
Keller-Price didn't realize that this would be her path. For many years, she didn't feel the need to go searching. Her life was a good one as she was adopted and raised by wonderful parents who she loved very much. But she had more love to give.
"Once I found all of this I realized there was that piece of my heart that wasn't quite fulfilled."
Keller-Price prayed a lot about the journey and taking this leap of faith. "I think if you feel in your heart it is the right thing, whether it's a job, a relationship, whatever it is and you know it's a leap of faith, don't listen to outside influences. Go with your heart."

"I've been hospitalized over 32 times. Attitude is everything and I don't take it for granted."
Danielle Bryant is the founder of the Make It Count 4 Dani Foundation. Her mission is to advocate, educate, encourage, and inspire those living with Rheumatoid Arthritis to MAKE IT COUNT.
In high school, Bryant was a star athlete. Suddenly her health began to deteriorate, and she was experiencing pain all over her body. "My joints would swell, they'd be red. But I had to do what I had to do," Bryant explains. "I was extremely scared, I didn't even know how to explain it. I was in the prime of my athletic career."
Bryant did not want to forfeit her chance to receive a college softball scholarship, so she hid the pain. Then came the drinking. She carried around vodka in her backpack.
When her dreams of playing college sports were dashed, depression took hold. It was a cycle that persisted for many years.
Total life transformation came to her in a dream. Bryant says she woke up and realized that the only person who would be able to fix her life was her.
"I committed to loving myself first. I started to take control and I found that my best medication was going to the gym and building my muscles. I just really concentrated on my health and being healthy again."
She sought help from Alcoholics Anonymous and was able to quit drinking.
Bryant went on to become a successful businessperson in Phoenix, Arizona. She is the Founder of a boutique construction company called Thrive.
Rheumatoid Arthritis does not go away. It's an autoimmune disease that travels everywhere in the body. Bryant has extreme joint pain and has had to deal with her organs being compromised. But she's managing her condition one day at a time.
"My mindset is powerful," Bryant shares. "I don't know what it's like to not have pain because I have lived with it for so long."
On this 35 minute episode of Transformation Tuesday, Bryant talks to Carey Pena about her journey to health and mission to inspire others to get up and move – no matter what is happening in your life.
Bryant also shares insight on her workout routine and daily diet (she sticks to chicken and fish and stays away from nightshade vegetables and dairy).
With her Foundation, Make It Count 4 Dani, Bryant is able to share her message with a wider audience, many of whom are living with Rheumatoid Arthritis or other debilitating conditions.
"I have received these letters and amazing messages from people and they are searching for their life back. I had a call with a 22 year old young man who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and was kicked out of the military for it, and I cried on the phone with him."
Ever since she made the decision to transform her life at age 23, Bryant has not touched alcohol. She is fueled by healthy living and the opportunity to help others.
"Being able to help another human being," she says, "that is a gift."

(1) CONSTANT
Widener says, "we are in the most communicative time, but not the most connected. You have to be constant and consistent with your message to break through all of the noise".

What is clear to you may not be clear to someone else. Focus on the things you want people to remember.
(3) CONCISE
Keep your message concise and to the point.

"I figured there was some reason I was saved and I needed to find out what it was." Published Author, Judy Pearson, survived cancer and went on to build her second act in life by helping women share their own stories of courage on stage. She calls it post-traumatic growth. : "No matter the life challenge, there is always treasure in the wreckage".
Diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast cancer, a very aggressive cancer, Pearson feels she was "saved" for a reason.
Three years ago, Pearson created A 2nd Act, the only organization of its kind she says.
Judy Pearson is committed to help other women cancer survivors focus on "what's next" instead of "why me".
Through powerful on-stage storytelling performances, women cancer survivors inspire entire audiences to find the treasures in their life's wreckage. These moving performances showcase women of all ages and cancer types, and is the annual fundraiser for A 2nd Act.
To date, more than 50 stories have been shared on stage, and included in a book providing "light" and inspiration for others when needed.
Pearson goes on to say she believes "the money raised in a city stays in a city". So it is important to her that A 2nd Act uses the money from these performances to fund the other programs offered by her organization, free of charge.
A 2nd Act holds 4 workshops a year to help guide survivors in discovering their own second act by discovering their own skills and passions. They also host 'Girls Night Out' where sister survivors hang out to swap stories and most important, laugh
Pearson says she focuses on only women because she believes women and men heal differently. She feels women offer more authentic workshops and nurturing for each other.
For her second act, Pearson has learned, with the help of her nine year old granddaughter, she can be courageous for not only herself, but also for others.
She feels her "cancer was a gift" because it makes you feel more powerful.
'Post Traumatic Growth' does happen after these traumatic experiences says Pearson. She says she "unplugged" from her final chemo treatment a different person. "The old Judy didn't jump out of the chemo cake."
And she wants us all to remember, "No matter how dark the days, we all have value and worth….don't ever sell yourself short".
Judith Pearson, award-winning author and cancer survivor, is making her 2nd act count.

"We all have a voice. Have the confidence to share it. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Sarah Krahenbuhl, Executive Director of Phoenix Suns Charities and the new VP of Social Responsibility, talks about her fearless style of leadership and how she is using her voice, and her platform with the Phoenix Suns, to make change for thousands of children with food allergies. It's a personal mission for Sarah since her son's food allergies are life threatening.
Now three years old, her son had his first incident at just eight months when he reacted to peanut butter. Krahenbuhl called 911.
Since then, she has immersed herself into researching food allergies and wants everyone to know how severe, and dangerous, they can be.
Food allergies are not just a "tummy ache" or a "rash" Krahenbuhl remarks.
There are eight top allergens: fish, shellfish, soy, wheat, dairy, eggs, milk, peanuts and tree nuts. All can be life threatening and her son is allergic to almost all of them.
It is reported that over 15 million people have food allergies, and 5.9 million are children under 18. That is roughly 2 children per classroom.
When asked what caused her son's allergies, Krahenbuhl says she does not have an answer, but she believes through her research, that what we put into our bodies affects our children. It could be from all the antibacterial stuff we use, the baby wipes, the antibiotics given under age of 2 or while pregnant, and so much more.
Her position as VP for Social responsibility means giving back to the community says Krahenbuhl. The Suns have been doing just that since the 60's.
A self-proclaimed type A personality, Krahenbuhl says she has never been quiet, and is not afraid to lead the charge. She believes the Suns organization promotes social responsibility from the players all the way to the owners, staff and employees, including their resources. They all give back to the "Arizona we love".
Currently, Phoenix Suns Charities grants about $1.5 million per year to about 115 non-profit organizations that focus on our children and families in need.
And this wonderful organization pulled their team together recently to give back in a big way. Caleb, a young boy fighting a life threatening illness, wanted to meet star player Devin Booker. So the Sun's owner, Robert Sarver, gave Caleb and his friends his own courtside seats, while all the players, head of player security, and Devin's own managers worked together to make the night unforgettable.
Krahenbuhl says giving back for the Suns is much more than basketball and money.
They back their employees. The Phoenix Suns Charities has supported Krahenbuhl's mission by granting funds to the Phoenix Fire Department to help educate First Responders about Epinephrine's use as a first response. Krahenbuhl believes this will be a life saver since, as she says, "an EpiPen save lives".
Sarah Krahenbuhl hopes her work, and her platform with the Suns, can continue to help her reach others in her fight against food allergies.
She also hopes her son will one day embrace his challenges and learn to become an advocate for himself, living his life without huge anxieties around eating.
Her message to us is that people can die if food allergies are not taken serious.
Krahenbuhl feels she has to be a voice for her son every day. Right now, she has no choice. Learn more at SunsCharities.org
