In this episode, Nicnac tracks their difficult journey towards Oshkosh in The TorqueSim SR22 and default DA40NG for Microsoft Flight Simulator. They talk about each leg, Monterey to San Carlos, San Carlos to Grand Junction, Grand Junction to Boulder, Boulder to Ainsworth, and Ainsworth to Mankato. They talk about why they are setting aside MSFS again and sticking with XPlane for GA and P3D for Airliners. Although they do note some progress on the part of Working Title and PMS. They plan to continue checking in on the platform periodically.
Although they are putting their North Atlantic trip on indefinite hiatus (the legs are too long in The SR22), they are really enjoying increasing their continuous US skills along with playing with XPlane ortho scenery and learning the best paths through the many US mountain ranges. They hope to work back up to VATSIM or POSCON and be skilled enough in The SR22 to try flying into Oshkosh for Simventure 21.

In this episode, Nicnac talks about the learning tools that are available in the simulation world and the learning they did on a recent cross-country trek from the birthplace of powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina to Monterey, California in a mix of GA Aircraft in X-Plane 11.
They also spend some time talking about real-world aviation. The uniqueness of the real experience. The powerful way podcasting can be used to share the hobby and passion and the times that real-world aviation gets too real.
If your a real-world aviator please share your experiences but also be safe. Your family and friends need you. The aviation community at large needs you! Nicnac thanks all the aviation media creators out there. Let’s take the time to remember and cherish when it is needed but keep flying with the aim to make aviation safer and better.

In this episode, Nicnac starts to puzzle over how to adjust to what they now know about themselves. They review their various coping systems and lament the “return to normal” humbug that is currently adding to the already oppressive normalization meat grinder. They conclude that their best path forward is to stick with what they know works and learn to say no when needed. This includes minimizing social interactions in any form, rolling with their energy flows, and trying to figure out how to conduct their life from home. Fortunately. Covid gave them a head start. Now if all the back to normal people would go away!

In this episode Nicnac talks about their concerns with The FAA and the way its structure has it constantly compromising safety to meet the powerful economic demands of airframers, airlines and US politicians. Nicnac makes the point that this structure isn’t safe or sustainable and results in continuous loss of life the world over. Nicnac also calls attention to their local airport KCIC where the city that owns the airport has elected to use airport property to provide temporary “shelter” to unhoused citizens. Nicnac hopes that no matter how you feel about housing, you’ll recognize that this isn’t an appropriate use of an airport!

In this episode Nicnac traces how they came into podcasting and attempts to convey what they are aspiring towards along with how their own experiences and limitations have shaped their work. Nicnac is excited about the process of taking their work to the next level and thankful for all who have contributed to the craft and taught it to them. Having a podcast that combines Nicnac’s unique interests, strife and limitations is interesting. It seems to work almost despite itself. Nicnac hopes you will continue to join them on this journey wherever it may lead.

In this episode Nicnac talks about the poor state of social services in their community of Chico, California and lists two organizations among many that are trying to help in the face of violent city policy and public opinion; Northern Valley Harm Reduction Coalition and Chico Housing Action Team. Nicnac calls for real pluralism in policy in their community, state, city and world.

In this episode Nicnac tries to succinctly synthesize and summarize their work and call out US conformity culture for what it is. They briefly summarize their historical findings before sharing their view that now is the time to connect with like minds, help where you can but lay low and stay safe in hopes that humanity will see better days in some far distant future. Sometimes The Obi-Wan Kenobi approach makes the most sense….

In this episode Nicnac tries to connect their recent progress in self identity to the work that they’ve done and how they came to do that work. They try to explain that they are driven to strive for a better world because they’ve experienced pain and indeed have caused pain. Nicnac does this by talking a bit about the podcast, their desire to be accepted, their more problematic coping techniques and explaining why they wrote and released their early song “Say What You Want To Say” at the age of 19.

In this episode Nicnac finds themselves enjoying Ortho scenery so much that they are doing short low IFR flights across The US at a very leisurely pace. They turned to this diversion as they were needing a break from the extremely long SR22 North Atlantic Legs. It being the solstice, though, Nicnac is well aware of the impact of the delays relative to weather. They will continue to report on their sim experience to the best of their capacity. Nicnac ends the episode by reminding listeners of the importance of simming in the way they enjoy most

Show Notes
In this episode Nicnac tries to articulate how finding safe communities that embrace and support who they are in recent times has made them feel. They don’t feel they can adequately express how much these discoveries have helped them and will help them in the times ahead. They also express how damaging attempts to modify or suppress who they are have been over the years. Given that advocating for and creating a global community that embraces diversity and supports people’s needs is their greatest passion, they resolve to continue focusing on this ambition in the hope of allowing others to feel safe and thrive through creative self expression. They hope they can use their podcast and expertise to help others who aspire to self expressive goals.
