With the tragic untimely passing of Andy Williams from Yam Who this month I wanted to celebrate his music and remind ourselves just how talented he was as a producer so dug out something special from the archive.

Several years ago I put together a Yam Who tribute mix as warm up for when he visited Soul Buggin'. This 2 hour mix focused on the early work of the duo Yam Who and it was these tracks that started the incredible buzz around them. The reworks they were putting out were blisteringly good but also shrouded in mystery. Just exactly who was Yam Who? As the years rolled on they left the edits and moved onto originals productions but it was these early works that will forever stay special for me. This mix is a bit of a snapshot of the edits scene in the early noughties that continued in the great tradition of flipping original tracks on their head, extending the best sections and reinventing them into something fresh.

Andy was such a lovely soul that will be sorely missed. His music will be celebrated for many years to come.
