On a summer's day on August 23, 1973, the quiet calm of Stockholm’s Norrmalmstorg square was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Escaped convict Jan-Erik Olsson entered the Kreditbanken bank, intending to rob it. The events that followed resulted in a six day hostage crisis that led to the development of Stockholm Syndrome.
